User Research Lead

User Researcher, Researcher, NHS, BSA, Health Care, GDS, Performance Management

£500 per day

3 months initial contract

Newcastle

A User Research Lead is required by our NHS client based in Newcastle for an initial 3 month contract. The User Research Lead is required to Lead within a small team of User Researchers that works within a wider team of Designers, Analysts and Developers. Familiarise yourself with the project's user research work to date and devise a strategy of moving the work forward.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design and conduct user research sessions on a regular basis, testing both high-level concepts, and aspects of the service as it is designed and developed, and developing and maintaining a picture of the users.
  • Collaboratively analyse the findings of user research to identify common themes and points of user contention. Manage business relations with usability and market research agencies to support necessary research processes.
  • Leading user researchers and user research activities across several teams. Aligning user research plans and activities with organisational objective and priorities.
  • Contributing evidence from user research to inform service propositions and roadmaps.
  • Promoting and ensuring good user research practice. Developing and mentoring user researchers and trainee user researchers.
  • Working with colleagues to create a culture of user centred and evidence based service design and delivery with teams actively involved in user research Working with colleagues to integrate user research activities and findings into teams' agile workflow.

Experience:

  • Experience of advocating for user research and engaging sceptical colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience of helping teams to adopt a range of user centred service design and delivery practices and embed them into their agile workflow.
  • Experience of helping teams adopt a wide range of user research methods, analysis and synthesis techniques and approaches to presenting and sharing findings.
  • Experience of leading user research staff and continually assuring, improving and innovating user research practices.
  • Experience of people and performance management and staff development. The ability to understand organisational goals and challenges, and to align research activities across teams to inform service proposition.
  • Experience of advocating for inclusive practices, and including all kinds of users in appropriate research activities to help teams understand the diversity of people who use their services.
  • Understanding of the social and technological context for government services, and experience of aligning user research activities to help teams understand changing user behaviour. Experience of helping services pass GDS assessments.
