GIS Specialist (ArcGIS)

Brief Overview

Triad has a fantastic opportunity for a GIS Specialist to work on an initial 3-month contract in Yorkshire. We are looking for someone with solid experience in ArcGIS, data extraction, map production and cartographic skills.

The hope is that the role will extend for a longer period.

The role is inside IR35 and will be paying around £250 per day via Ltd Co or umbrella; however, the rate may be negotiable.

For this role, we need people who have or can be SC security cleared.

Experience/Key Skills

Map, Plan and Data Production

  • Produce a wide range of maps and plans, using sound cartographic principles and standards, to satisfy customer requirements, including in support of:
    • Legal and statutory transactions, such as land acquisitions and disposals
    • Byelaws
    • Safeguarding
    • Environmental assessments, planning, and impact analysis
  • Use automated map production processes where these are effective and appropriate.
  • Clearly document operations undertaken, and record experiences and oddities that would help other team members in the future when tackling similar work, and to help populate the Geospatial Services product catalogue.
  • Be the 'owner' of elements of the Geospatial Services product catalogue, and regularly review them to ensure that each is kept up-to-date.

Geospatial Data Configuration and Analysis

  • Use geospatial tools that allow the use of conventional maps and drawings to be used in conjunction with digital mapping.
  • Be proactive in the use of geospatial analytical tools for the preparation of data.
  • Apply the most appropriate co-ordinate systems.
  • Record and update metadata.

Geospatial Data Interpretation, Capture and Professional Advice

  • Use sound interpretation techniques to identify and record real-world features and ground types from aerial imagery and other remotely captured image sources.
  • Use a wide range of different sources of both traditional and digital geographic data, such as:
    • conventional maps (Title Deed maps and plans, historic maps, other paper maps)
    • digital mapping
    • photographic aerial imagery
    • digital aerial imagery
    • written part of legal documents that are interpreted together with their associated maps

Geospatial Data Sharing

  • Import and export tabular and spatial data in various data type formats.
  • Move data from Legacy systems to centralised data storage locations.
