Job Description
We are currently seeking a cloud solution architect who is a SME in Liferay who combines solid technical credentials and experience with a high degree of business acumen for a position within Architecture team. In this role, you will collaborate with technology peers and business partners to build and deploy the foundation for the next generation of modern cloud native software applications and services for a global business.
You will be part of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, energetic, and high performing team at the heart of the transformation to developing cloud native applications and services. This group is nimble and creative and will shape our technology roadmap. This role will be instrumental to enabling the current and future world of cloud computing. You will be challenged with identifying innovative ideas and proof of concepts to delivery against existing and future needs of our customers.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Leadership & Communication
- Lead teams of Architects and Engineers building cloud services.
- Collaborate with teams across the business to set standards and best practices.
- Communicate risk assessments.
- Contribute to, influence, or direct a variety of projects concurrently.
- Provide technical governance of projects to ensure adherence with standards.
- Provide technical recommendations to senior management.
- Mentor less senior members of the technology teams.
Strategy
- Make formal and informal technical presentations.
- Lead and take command of meetings.
- Establish, enhance and communicate cloud-native architecture and engineering best practices
- Promote benefits of software development utilizing Agile and DevOps methodologies
- Subject matter expert developing an approach and communicating corresponding benefits of utilizing AWS and/or Azure to business units
- Work closely with internal teams to understand and incorporate established security best practices for the cloud
- Provide financial analysis for technology decisions.
- Devise strategies and architectures to optimize consumption of cloud resources.
- Work with engineering teams and other architects to make cost effective infrastructure choices for business units.
- Participate with contract discussions that involve technical decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science with preferential consideration to Masters degree in Computer Science
- 8+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of Liferay Portal Architect experience
- 4+ years of relevant cloud experience to include:
- Experience building software following cloud native architecture methodologies
- Preference for AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate and/or Professional Certifications
- Hands on experience using multiple portal infrastructure specialising in Liferay
- Extensive expertise working with AWS and/or Azure
- Deep technical understanding of cloud-native architecture and engineering best practices
- Experience partnering with and leading business unit project teams (architects and engineers) building cloud services.
- Ability to collaborate with teams across the business to set standards and best practices
- Ability to contribute to, influence, or direct a variety of projects concurrently.
- Provide technical governance of projects to ensure adherence with standards.
- Ability to lead and take command of meetings.
- Understanding of security best practices for the cloud
