Job Title: Economist
Location: The post can be based either in Swindon or London
Length: 3 months
Max Pay rate: £360 per day
R35 Scope: InScope (In side)
Security Clearance Level Required: SC - Security Check
Travel: Very Occasional between Swindon and London.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitoring, analysing and reporting regularly on UK and Global economic developments; Briefing senior Government and departmental stakeholders on economic trends and changes; Leading the economic and financial sector policy collaboration, including overseeing some projects and some lobbying work; Providing analytical input into broader efforts to boost trade and investment links; Building and maintaining an extensive network of contacts in government, academia and the private sector to help inform reporting and promote UK policy and departmental objectives; Contributing to (and on some occasions, leading) regional reports and project work; Actively contributing to discussions on our economic priorities in the region; Commissioning and overseeing economic forecasting models.
Essential Criteria:
- Economic Analysis
- Financial Analysis
- Business Case Modelling
- Familiarity with HMT standards and process.
- Successful individuals must have prior experience of working in complex public sector projects and engaging with HMT over the economic case. The successful candidates will be expected to act as mentors for junior economist team members.
