DevOps Engineer /Infrastrucutre Engineer / Cloud Engineer

Ive got a fantastic role for the right peson. This role would see the ideal DevOps engineer gain exposure to both AWS and Azure.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
  • Maintaining infrastructure using configuration management tools
  • Ensuring maximum system uptime
  • Ensuring that all systems are working at optimal levels
  • Ensuring effective operation of high availability & fault tolerant solutions
  • Ensuring continued stability through ongoing security updates & patches
  • Perform system and application vulnerability scanning
  • Troubleshooting & resolving complex issues
  • Proactively responding to technical issues; received directly or through the trouble ticket system
  • Using trouble ticket system to track and prioritise workload and report to stakeholders
  • Continuously fine-tune & automate infrastructure, deployments, monitoring & other routines
  • Working collaboratively with the Development team (e.g. deployment of code releases to Production)
  • Contribute to the design & development of infrastructure solutions
  • Support the development and integration of new technologies and system requirements
  • Develop automation strategies
  • Support new technology planning and implementation
  • Working with the latest technologies to monitor and automate environments
  • Create and update technical documentation
  • Participate in the design, implementation and execution of backup and disaster recovery plan for infrastructure solutions
  • Ensure adherence to security requirements
  • Adhere to policies, procedures and standards


Qualifications & Experience:
  • Experience of being a successful Linux engineer
  • Experience of working with Amazon Web Services & Solutions
  • Has held a variety of technical roles
  • Previous successful experience of virtual and cloud environments
  • Broad range of technical knowledge
  • Solid background in monitoring and optimising IT infrastructure
  • Working with configuration management tools - Ansible or Puppet
  • Scripting for scheduled routines and infrastructure efficiencies, ideally Bash or Python
  • Knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, DNS, LAN/WAN, VPN, Routers, Switches and Firewalls.
  • Understanding of cloud security (Securing applications and infrastructure)
  • Comfortable using *nix command line
  • Experience administrating MySQL and familiarity with LAMP/LEMP architecture
  • Use of ELK (ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana) Implementation & Configuration
  • Familiarity with version control systems
  • Use of team collaboration system and/or workflow management tools, e.g. Jira/Confluence

Virtualisation: Amazon AWS/EC2, Vagrant, Docker

Platforms: Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Amazon Linux/Ubuntu), Mac OX, Windows

Network/Infrastructure: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, AD

Monitoring: Datadog, ELK, Observium, CloudWatch
