GIS Consultant/Expert, 6 months, Abu Dhabi, Immediate, Market rates
My UK based client have a need to bring on an additional GIS Consultant to work on site for of their large clients in Abu Dhabi.
Solution Architect elements
- responsible for the end-to-end solution at a fairly high-level (data through to end use presentation)
- Key decision maker on the solution architecture such as roles of each tier and components, security model, environments from integration to production
- Visits all technical partners regularly, manages the technical communications
- Conducts regular end-to-end design and implementation reviews
- Arbitrate in key technical decisions
- Have empathy with all partners (understand their capabilities, needs and limitations)
- Channel risks and their management to the project managers
- Design build, integration and release plan and communicate to all partners
- Roles and responsibilities, environments, deployment approach, support and maintenance requirements
- Able to produce and own the programme's architecture documentation. Adhering to the Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) or similar
Technical Architect elements
- Responsible at a lower technical level
- Key area of focus is on the integration level
- Defining APIs and managing all parties to ensure that there are no blockers
- Ensuring API contracts are adhered to or managing any change processes
- Understand technologies and approaches being taken by all partners
- Be concerned that the full stack will perform across the entire solution
- Maintain a good and close working relationship with technical leads and key engineers at all partners
Technologies
- GIS (server technologies, services (WMS, WFS etc.), QGIS)
- Web mapping (Leaflet.js, OpenLayers3)
- Knowledge of the Hexagon stack (Erdas Apollo)
- Cloud technologies
- Awareness of Earth Observation techniques/remote sensing
