Gas Heating Engineer - Heating and Generation - Coventry - Initial 3 months
Gas Heating Engineer required to join a client in the utilities industry based in Coventry on an initial 3 month contract.
The role:
You will be part of a customer facing team responsible for assisting with the Installation/Maintenance and Repair of the client's New/Replacement Boilers.
Your working schedule may consist of assisting with Boiler Installations/Smart Thermostats-, through to assisting with Technical surveys and potentially undertaking Gas Servicing/Repair Work.
You will wire heating systems (post fused spur) to meet manufactures instructions.
Technically, you will have the ability to diagnose and resolve- complicated problems on Combi Boilers- through to Y/S plan systems, whether this is during or post installation. You will be able to test and interpret electrical problems, utilising electrical testing equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring safety is the No1 priority, developing a leading health and safety culture on site with customers/clients and other relevant parties.
- Installing Gas Boilers/Controls- to meet regulatory standards and best practice (notably- Gas Safety Installation & Use Regulations-1998 and Manufacture Instructions).
- Ensuring timely, compliant completion of works issued to you
- Diagnosing/Rectification of faults on Gas Boilers/Systems
- Provide accurate information to Customers/Office
- Partaking in an out of hours rota- where applicable
Scope of Decision Making:
- Responsible for the complaint installation/servicing and maintenance of Gas Boilers/Equipment- in accordance with regulatory standards and manufacture instructions.
- Ensure compliance with Gas Industry- unsafe situations procedure at all times, whilst working in our customer/clients properties.
Key Skills
- You Must Possess Domestic ACS Certification - CCN1 CENWAT HTR1 CKR1
- Must Hold- 17th Edition Wiring Regulations Qualification
- Proven/Demonstrable Gas Servicing/Repair experience - Minimum 5 years post qualification 'hands on'- experience
- Working Knowledge of solving diagnosing complicated technical problems on various heating systems
- Working knowledge and ability to repair gas heating systems
- Working Knowledge of Hot Water Systems and Water Regulations (Part L)
- Working knowledge of completing Health &Safe point of work Risk Assessments, ensuring yours and others safety is managed effectively
- Ability to work independently using your own initiative and solving technical problems using manufactures instructions or industry normative standards
- Knowledge of Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure and corrective action process
- Ability to interpret surveys carried out by others, ensuring a complaint and customer friendly approach at all times
- Ability/Technical Competence to interpret wiring diagrams and complete alterations to wiring centres/Fused Spurs/Boilers- including making final connections
- Ability to effectively communicate to customers, in some time challenging circumstances
- Flexible approach to working hours (usually Mon-Friday 37.5 hour week) to meet business needs
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role
