Description

IT Field Ops Tech

This position is responsible for receiving new computers, prepping them for installation by installing a standard image, installing the equipment in a field office and then bringing the old equipment back, logging it in and making sure it is ready to be shipped back out. This position supports a geographic area that includes travel to mostly Birmingham. Other locations include Anniston, Calera, Jasper, Pell City and Tuscaloosa. Company tools, equipment and a vehicle will be provided for travel. This position reports directly to the field IT supervisor.

IT Field Ops Tech - Required Skills

Knowledge of: computer operating systems and operating computer system peripheral devices
Prep new computers, desktops and laptops.
Lease term (desktop/laptop) installation
PC/MAC re-imaging and setup process, mobile device setup. This will include proactively installing and maintaining anti- virus/anti-spam solution, perform system recovery of deleted files; perform software installations; obtain patches, upgrades and bug fixes
Work with analysts to order peripherals, and software as needed, maintaining detailed records, including inventories through the ticketing system. Dispose of aged equipment in a timely fashion.
Basic understanding of cyber security with the ability to respond to alerts and escalations in a timely manner
Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
Effective oral and written communications skills with the ability to convey complex technical issues in business terms
Ability to work independently without direct supervision

Ability to build relationships, to communicate and work with all levels of management, vendors, other internal groups and customers and exhibit positive influence at all of these levels
Ability to manage time effectively
Stay abreast of new technologies and techniques in the market
Must be flexible and able to change directions quickly and comfortably

IT Field Ops Tech - Day To Day Functions

Receiving & re-imaging computers in the office. Checking ticket queue & prioritizing work. Leaving office for multiple field locations to swap out off-lease computers.
Installing PCs, installing software, setting up peripherals and diagnosing hardware and software issues.

IT Field Ops Tech - Travel Is Required

In a company vehicle. 70% within the Birmingham Division (locations include Birmingham metropolitan area), Western Division (locations include Aliceville, Centreville, Demopolis, Fayette, Haleyville, Jasper, and Tuscaloosa) and Eastern Division (locations include Anniston, Gaston, Talladega, Pell City, Roanoke).

IT Field Ops Tech - Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service and proactive technical expertise to facilitate the implementation of new equipment and operating systems and upgrades to existing computer equipment. Furthermore, working on miscellaneous requests while working in a team environment to provide outstanding customer support. In this function, this position reports directly to the field IT supervisor.

IT Field Ops Tech - Experience Required

Working knowledge and understanding of IT Service, customer model and IT organizational roles/responsibilities which work together to serve customer needs.
Experience implementing, integrating, and supporting vendor application solutions
Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Office

IT Field Ops Tech - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to troubleshoot both software and hardware issues
Ability to troubleshoot the Windows 10 operating system, diagnosing and solving software faults
Support all aspects of the end user including remote access, systems build and lease term (desktop/laptop) installation, setup and administration of desktops and laptops
Support off-site equipment setup, troubleshooting, repair and lease term (desktop/laptop) installation
Performing initial application troubleshooting for site-specific and fleet applications
