Hi,

I am looking for a Electrical Engineer to complete a 6 month contract in the North West

Job Role:

Working for a Electrical Simulation Power Systems group who support the activities on projects across the UK on utility networks, industrial electrical infrastructure and plant electrical installations.

The role requires the undertaking of design activities, studies, proposals and technical support. The work entails the ability to work to programme commitments and to work concurrently on a number of live projects at differing stages of development and execution.

The majority of time will be office based in the North West but with a requirement to travel to meetings with clients, manufacturers and DNO's and to attend project sites as required. A good commercial awareness is also necessary.

Job Requirements:

Preferably Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering with a good knowledge of Electrical Power networks and systems design at Medium Voltage and Low Voltage.

The majority of network design is at 11/33kV under ICP design provisions and candidates should be conversant with DNO design procedures. Good knowledge of Industrial Electrical systems design covering switchgear, transformers, relay panels, substations and process plant systems

Produce Electrical design drawings using AutoCad. Drawings will comprise: Single Line Diagrams, Schematic Diagrams, Termination Diagrams, Electrical/Civil Layouts for Substations, Transformer pens, Switchrooms etc., Cable Routing, Earthing, LVAC Services and Electrical detailing

Produce Outline and detailed Calculations for Power Systems Studies comprising: Load Flow, Fault Level, Protection Settings, Transient Stability using industry standard software: IPSA, Power Factory, PowerNet.

Produce MV and LV cable calculations, reports and schedules. Produce Earthing calculations and reports. Produce LVAC systems designs and calculations.

Produce Technical Specifications and Plant/Equipment/Relay Schedules.

Produce Contractor Proposals packages for projects.

Review manufacturer's proposals against project requirement specifications.

Undertake FAT and SAT witness testing duties and schedule commissioning technical requirements for electrical switchgear, transformers, relay schemes, AVR schemes etc.

Able to manage engineering support staff
