The company

Established provider of Turnkey Power Engineering solutions in LV & MV switchgear and protection & control, including manufacturing, installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs and refurbishment.Our client is recruiting for a large project on London Underground Infrastructure upon which they have been successfully completing project works on for the last 15 years.

The role

Working on a range of London Underground/Crossrail projects you will report to the site foreman/
management on a daily basis, supporting all onsite projects. Specifically you will get involved in all electrical aspects of substation works both indoor and outdoor - ie replacing busbars, circuit breakers, isolators, transformers and switchgear as well as glanding and terminating SWA multicore cables and wiring control/relay panels to detailed designs. Installing cable management systems (CMS), you will perform containment and general electrical duties. Being fully conversant with reading and interpreting schematics, diagrams and layout drawings, you will work to RAMs, WPPs and safe working practices.

The requirements

An experienced Substation Electrician/Electrical Fitter, you must have experience of working within Substations, preferably with some experience of London Underground/Network Rail/Crossrail projects. You must have CSCS card or equivalent, 17th edition is desirable and you should hold a recognised Craft Apprenticeship and/or vocational training equivalent to NVQ level 3 and City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification (as a minimum). Knowledge of the electrical engineering or rail industry would be preferred, but not essential. Possession of a Substation Competent Entry Permit (Unrestricted) and a LUCAS card would be highly advantageous. A flexible attitude to work is required as there may be times when demands mean that night and weekend work is needed.
