Description

Our client is embarking on a new project that involves setting up a new Satellite Operations Centre in London. Due to this expansion they now require a number of Satellite Controllers to support this long term project.

The role will involve supporting flight operations, operation preparation, simulation, validation and maintenance, development of automated procedures. Anomaly reports handling, analysis and troubleshooting, support of review boards.

Responsibilities will include -

  • Monitor and control of the fleet of satellites on a 24/7 shift rota
  • Carry out satellite commanding using approved flight operations procedures
  • Maintain Operational Activity logs
  • Schedule tasks to be performed by the satellite control team
  • Generate periodic reports on spacecraft health and status for distribution to the Satellite Engineering team
  • Perform routine control system maintenance and backup tasks
  • Provide first line response to satellite contingency and escalation to the satellite engineering team
  • Provide support for operations preparation and development during occasional periods of day shifts
  • Attend and support the Anomaly Review Board process as required by the Satellite Control Manager
  • Assist System Administrators in the implementation of satellite control hardware and software
  • Validate procedure and database updates using dynamic satellite simulators, and production of appropriate validation reports
  • Review operational documents originating internally and externally to the company
  • Assist in the development of satellite control team procedures and processes
  • Using Manufacture operational documents, write Spell and Python scripts for operational use
  • Participate in system verification tests and simulations campaigns in support of new satellite procurement
  • Suggest future improvements to satellite operations based on experience in role
  • Assist in ad hoc tasks as requested by the Satellite Control Manager
  • Address translation of procedures at various stages of translation cycle as appropriate, identify and flag translation stages where bottlenecks are occurring.
  • Regular review of RID statuses. Address accepted RIDs in a timely manner. Track and keep record of number of RIDs and RID statuses.
