Description

The Senior Network and Security Solution Engineer/Network Security Engineer with a minimum of Cisco ASA Firewall, Cisco ISE and Palo Alto Firewall experience will design, deploy, and support Cisco and Palo Alto based advanced network and security solutions. Work collaboratively with Solution Architects and Operations to ensure seamless transition of needs based solution design throughout project delivery life cycle. Instrumental in ensuring technical solution capability meets customer and industry standards. This one year+ long term renewable consulting opportunity in Sacramento, California offers a W2 or corp to corp-(only if personally incorporated) relationship. Salary and rates competitive.

Ideal Qualifications, some combination of the following:
- Expertise in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network
infrastructure devices, including: Firewalls, Routers, Switches, wireless access points and controllers, and monitoring applications.
- Current Cisco certifications (CCNP, CCIE) a plus
- Palo Alto Networks Accredited Configuration Engineer (ACE) certification
or equivalent experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience of Core Routing and Switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting, and usage of Cisco Products and Best Practices
- Extensive knowledge and experience in Network Security, including design, configuration, and tuning
- Extensive knowledge in Network Management, Security, Planning, Traffic Engineering and Implementation
- Extensive technical experience working with VPN technologies (IPSEC, SSL, VPN, WebVPN, AnyConnect, DMVPN, etc.).
- Extensive knowledge in application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS,
LDAP, and Microsoft AD), and a deep understanding of how to support these applications/protocols when access through VPN and Firewall appliances.
- Documents technical diagrams and maintains data analysis reports
- Ability to produce and adhere to documentation - Visio, run books, etc...

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and support network security infrastructure solutions for customers
- Develop design and documentation as well as customer guides and support documentation for handoff from project engineering to ongoing support.
- Enforce current information security and control policies, procedures, and standards
- Identify weaknesses in the current system and ensure effectiveness of internal controls to reduce risk to information systems
- Obtain and correlate data reports from various sources, make logical inferences about the data, and publish results
- Review Firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise anti-virus software, and assist in vulnerability scans to determine potential threats
- Work with project stakeholders including clients, account managers, project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure successful project outcomes
including; customer satisfaction, on-time delivery, and technical accuracy to design and best-practice standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and technology service teams to plan, design and test enterprise network security solutions
- Monitor performance and capacity of cloud and on-premises client environments to proactively avoid issues and approach continuous improvement.
- Evaluate current operation processes and documentation, identify areas for improvement, make recommendations and implement approved enhancements.
- Work with team members to automate engineering tasks, streamline processes and perform standard administration functions as needed
- Manage incidents in accordance with internal policies and procedures and lead incident postmortem discussions and propose long term solutions
- Utilize change management best practices to execute and manage changes to systems and system deployments to production environments.
- Test and implementing new software releases and upgrades, while minimizing risk for unplanned outages.
- Collaborate with Architects and other IT area engineering teams to determine capacity, performance, and communication bandwidth requirements for existing and new services in both on-premises and cloud hosted configurations.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, partners and business managers across various levels of the organization
- Mentor less experienced team members and serve as point of senior technical escalation for engineering and managed services teams.
