Mechanical Design Engineer - Solidedge - Vacuum Systems - Gas Systems

Successful candidates will have a broad understanding of engineering and have specific in-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Vacuum technology
- Gas and pressure systems
- Motion control systems
- Optical systems
- Machining and materials
- Simulation and Mechanical Calculations (fluids, stress, heat transfer)
Having experience with SolidEdge is an essential requirement.
Specific duties of the role include:
- Determine and produce specifications by working with scientific teams.
- Develop complex mechanical engineering components or systems from concept through design, procurement, commissioning and testing and final reporting.
- Carry out appropriate engineering calculations and simulations to ensure the development brief is met.
- Prepare work instructions for staff carrying out development and test programmes.
- Prepare and present reports on designs and test programmes for peer and stakeholder review.
- Manage tendering, procurement and delivery of approved designs, equipment and services.
- Ensure all development activities are carried out safely and to required codes of practice.
- Manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary staff carrying out programmes of development and testing.
- Checking and approving engineering drawings

We are currently recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer working within a state of the art facility in Didcot. The position is a 12 month initial contract with scope for further long term extensions. Working within the Mechanical Engineering group, you will be responsible for development projects or engineering on experiments and managing the complete process through: concept, design, risk assessment, procurement, installation/commissioning, testing and final reporting.
