Role Summary

This individual will hold Chartered Engineer professional status and be a member of a recognised engineering institution with demonstrable successful project experience within the Oil and Gas or Marine Industries. A thorough understanding of UKCS regulatory requirements and classification society rule sets will be essential.

The individual is required to be a Consultant Engineer for the Naval Architecture discipline and ideally have previous safety experience during FEED as well as FPSO conversion or large ship conversion projects. Experience in similar offshore conversion or build projects would also be beneficial.


The individual will work within a small engineering team on an upcoming FEED development project with specific responsibilities to include:

  • Supporting/Guiding the Principal Naval Architect and their team;
  • Undertaking a review of Legacy ship configuration/information;
  • Developing Naval Architectural discipline suitable for basic design/FEED Phase with a view to Project Execution;
  • Leading on the development of the Naval Architecture Safety Studies including specialist knowledge of:

    • Lifeboats & davits;
    • Walkways;
    • escape and evacuation;
    • collision studies;
    • Navigation lights; and
    • Field of View from bridge.

  • Key role in assuring the successful delivery of the following Naval Architectural tasks:

    • Model Tests;
    • Technical Specification;
    • Weight Control, Trim and Stability;
    • Fire Protections Studies.

  • Key role in assuring the successful delivery of the following Structural Engineering tasks:

    • Fatigue;
    • Sea Loads;
    • Accommodation
    • Integration of Helideck & Lifeboats;
    • Offloading & Towing Studies;
    • Scantling drawing updates.
  • Supporting the development of work packages by the Naval Architecture and Structures teams.
  • Participating and chairing internal and external (with customer) design review processes;
  • Supporting engagement with the classification society for Design Approval In Principle;
  • Ensuring adherence to company the safety, quality and engineering governance processes
  • Providing general Naval Architectural support to the project team;
  • Ensuring that procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities;
  • Ensure task and project risks are communicated and managed appropriately;
  • Produce, review and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports, in accordance with task and project requirements;
  • Assessing the implications of changes, concessions and queries;
  • Maintaining the engineering configuration, ensuring the overall design intent and integrity is maintained throughout design life cycle;
  • Contribute to process improvements within the design life cycle to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle time and cost;
