ROLE Summary
Infrastructure specialist with a strong, broad technical background capable to provide expert support to a complex range of Infrastructure technologies varying from UNIX technologies through virtualization and storage attached environments. The role will be involved in both project work and BAU activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 3rd line level IT support to all internal IT customers (UK and abroad) and the Oil and Gas business as a whole (problem and incident resolution)
- Installation documentation and support of server equipment within a secure environment
- Environmental control and monitoring of all aspects of Glencore Energy hosted environments
- Technical skills transfer to colleagues both UK and abroad
- To administer the promotion of changes to production
- Support, influence and guide external service providers/internal work streams to a successful outcome
- Assist in establishing policies and procedures for an ongoing Infrastructure Support Operation
- Develop and implement administration standards and procedures
- Support application installation and monitoring solutions.
Essential:
- Technically proficient in Wintel technologies
- Experience of Devops techniques with strong automation skills
- Experience implementing, managing and maintaining Citrix environments - XenApp 6/7
- Experience with Microsoft App-V
- A thorough understanding of Windows server technologies (Windows 2012 R2/2016 administration) and associated services eg Internet Information Services (IIS), Certificate management etc.
- Ability to support/maintain an Active Directory environment (inc. accompanying technologies DNS, DHCP, Group Policy management etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft System Centre - Operations Manager (SCOM), Configuration Manager (SCCM)
- Ability to manage/maintain Windows patch management cycles
- Experience of supporting and managing infrastructure services within a Windows 10 environment
- Experience working with and implementing current security standards
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Basic networking skills LAN/WAN, TCP/IP
Desirable:
- Good understanding of current and emerging Microsoft Technologies.
- Scripting knowledge
- Disaster recovery experience
- Experience with supporting and implementing trading applications
- Blade-Server Technology knowledge, specifically Cisco UCS is highly desirable
- Previous ITIL exposure
