Description

The Facilities Engineer will be validating telecom vendor invoices against contractual rates/discounts/monthly usage measurements

  • Reconciling discrepancies by documenting errors; ensuring credits are received;
  • Participating in quarterly vendor management meetings
  • Processing timely payments via PeopleSoft with allocation of charges to the proper account codes.
  • Works with AP, follows month-end close procedures, prepares accruals, and verifies amounts posted in GL.
  • Produces monthly reports on telecom expense trends and quantifies monthly savings realized as a result of thorough invoice review
  • Extracts usage data from the traffic monitoring system, Watchmark
  • Analyzes data and produces weekly utilization reports
  • Modifies trunk forecast to reflect changes in traffic patterns
  • Places circuit orders with Local Exchange Carriers and Interexchange Carriers
  • Coordinates circuit installation between vendor and Operations personnel
  • Tracks order status and escalate as required to insure timely completion
  • Assigns equipment and facilities in the circuit inventory system, XPERCOM
  • Utilizes the Industrys Local Exchange Routing Guide (LERG) to determine proper routing of new cellular and landline codes and resolve trouble reports.
  • Analyzes capacity requirements associated with landline Tandem rehomes and cellular switch cutovers.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with invoice processing, coding procedures, and PeopleSoft.

General understanding and or working knowledge in one or more of the following platforms and/or technologies: Telecom experience including:

  • T1, DACS, OMP Voice switch infrastructure including: Lucent 5E and ECP, Motorola MGX, and Nortel MTX
  • Digital Communications including: DS1, DS3, Fiber, ISDN
  • Data communications including: routers, switches, Ethernet, hubs, TCP/IP, ATM, Frame Relay, SS7
  • Microwave experience including: Nortel RD6 & 11, NEC OC3 Series 3000 radios
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience.
