Mechanical Technician

Job purpose:

Performs all operations needed to build and test oil and gas control units for General Electric with the exception of FAT and EFAT testing.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies by using work instructions, templates or reading measurements.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves assembly problems to meet specifications; notifying supervisor.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing operational preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Improves operations and procedures with employee's suggestions.
  • Maintains a high degree of quality and EHS in the local area of work.
  • Supports additional operations in the company when and where deemed by management.
  • Train and facilitate contractors, trainees and apprentices when required.

Principal Accountabilities:

Accountable for operations requested of the individual concerning product build and test, as well as EHS and quality of the production the individual in working on. Reporting deficiencies and issue through the correct channels and being proactive with troubleshooting, stop work or any issues/resolve they encounter within reason.
