UNIX Administrator
Location: Budapest, Hungary (The individual in this role will work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule to support the patching and maintenance of the platforms)
Rate: €250 per day
Duration: 6 months

Responsible for operational support and maintenance of 4,900+ Servers located globally, running Red Hat Enterprise Linux with some Solaris. This includes server builds, monitoring, configuration and ongoing maintenance of Servers.
Technology & Operations
The systems support the full life cycle of the investment management process, from quantitative risk management to order entry, trade routing and settlement.
Team Overview
This position requires hands on knowledge of Linux/UNIX operating systems and server technologies. Should have a basic knowledge of industry hardware types and interoperability. Should have a basic understanding of application software. Person in this role must be able to work with other system administrators on their team located at that site and other locations. The person will work with colleagues regarding builds, patches, updates, testing and sharing results. This person needs to provide operational support for Legacy, current and emerging technologies. The global Platform Operations team is a sizable team of over 80 individuals located in six different regions that support a highly available Platforms. We are looking for help to support the daily operations, project work & vulnerability management. The individual in this role will work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule to support the patching and maintenance of the platforms.
Role Responsibility
*Responsible for ongoing vulnerability management by coordinating and deploying patches and server rebuilds throughout the estate.
*Responsible for operational support and maintenance of 4,900+ Servers located globally, running Red Hat Enterprise Linux with some Solaris. This includes server builds, monitoring, configuration and ongoing maintenance of Servers.
*Perform system administration duties across the environment to provide support services for customer.
*Perform system recoveries.
*Maintain server availability for all sites and periodically participate in DR exercises.
*Must have good problem solving, teamwork, communication and customer service skills.
*Resolve help desk escalations and process items in a ticket queue.
*There are no after-hours on call requirements, but the individual should remain flexible for critical situations.
*Troubleshoot and resolve system issues and provide operations support for bridge calls.
*Participate in the implementation of UNIX related projects for server builds.
*Monitor Servers and remediate alerts that get raised.
*Being able to follow documented processes and procedures is critical.
*English language skills & good clear communication is an absolute must.
Experience
*Unix/Linux experience - preferably RHEL (6 & 7), Solaris 8/10 is a plus
*Knowledge of server builds (kickstart/jumpstart)
*Experience with Veritas products: VxVM, VxFS, VCS and VVR
*Experience with Puppet and Shell Scripting Perl or python is a plus.
*Server hardware (HP ProLiant, Dell, Sun/Oracle)
*Conceptual knowledge of storage and networking components (TCP/IP, NFS, DNS,LDAP,FTP,NTP, Samba)
*Experience with Windows Server is a plus
