Description

The Athena consortium comprises of nine forces working together to deliver a ground breaking operational IT system.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Athena Service Manager who will be responsible for overseeing service management issues arising from the operational Athena IT system. They will support the Athena forces and lead on activity that ensures the system continues to meet business needs. They will also be responsible for customer satisfaction and overseeing change that delivers enhanced performance and user experience.
This is a highly demanding role supporting the live operational policing system, maintaining day to day responsibility for ownership and resolution of service management issues, and managing actual performance against service levels.
The Service Delivery Manager will possess an IT related degree or equivalent industry experience. He/she will possess at least 3-5 years previous management and supplier management experience within a large scale IT environment and be a member of a relevant professional body (eg BCS, APM etc) and have detailed knowledge of ITIL Versions 3. An ITIL Service Delivery and/or Service Support Managers Certificate is essential.
It is essential that the post holder is able to think strategically, and can contribute towards and influence future Athena development. Ideally he/she will have a knowledge of, networks and infrastructure and have significant experience in the support and maintenance of IT systems.
He/she must be able to absorb complex technical information and communicate effectively at all levels to technical and non- technical audiences. An understanding of the implications of new technologies is essential together with the ability to provide clear leadership. He/she should possess strong planning, analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to evaluate processes, identify problems and solutions and to influence and persuade.
The successful candidate will be required to be highly motivated and extremely flexible both in terms of working days and locations across the Athena forces, however, much of the post-holder's time will be spent at Chelmsford, Essex, where the Athena Management Office and many key stakeholders are based.
The role will be offered on a 2 year fixed term contract basis.
