Description

Systems Analyst responsibilities:

- Responsible for the operational stability of the serves, applications, batch chains and databases.

- To provide customer support for operational IT services to all Business Units

- To provide IT support during policy admin system migration project.

  • Ensure stability of application/database Servers.
  • Ensure stability of daily batch chains.
  • Monitoring and control of environments (production, pre-production, test, development).
  • Management of events, incidents, routine operational activities.
  • Reporting on the status or performance of technology components.
  • Job scheduling.
  • Database backup and restore.
  • Server management and support.
  • Release and deployment management.
  • Ongoing maintenance.
  • Security patching.
  • Directory service management.
  • Middleware management.
  • Log, track and update incidents.
  • Take ownership for customer support issues and push them to resolution.
  • Investigation and diagnosis of problems with our core applications
  • Prompt response and resolution of issues raised by business users across multiple applications
  • Liaise with business to inform of progress, request information, manage expectations and close out issues.
  • Daily maintenance of applications and troubleshooting problems with the application suite as they arise.
  • Be proactive in identify impacts to the live environment and insure minimal impact on operational service and on the business.
  • Understand application/infrastructure such to complete detailed impact assessment in the event of change/enhancements.
  • Manage discrete packages of work from initiation through to implementation.
  • Building strong working relationships with IT services providers both internal and external.
  • Continuous written and verbal communication with the business to ensure clarity in all situations.
  • Provide additional support for the Production Support Team.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT or relevant practical experience
  • 3+ years' experience in an IT support role.
  • Experience in database management (Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Experience of writing SQL queries to facilitate problem solving, data analysis.
  • Ability to interrogate data through query tools eg SQL Developer
  • Experience in Windows and Linux environment.
  • Experience in IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler.
  • Experience in job Scripting (batch files, Shell files, python).
  • Experience in IIS, Apache, Tomcat.
  • Experience in LDAP (ADAM).
  • Experience in environment configuration management.
  • Understanding of ITIL Service Chain and Incident, Problem, Change and Release processes.
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Project Lifecycle methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent problem solving skills with experience of dealing with business critical systems.
  • Experience managing discrete pieces of work/projects from initiation to closure.
  • Experience working on technical teams is critical.
  • Experience with implementing vendor application packages.
  • Accurate with attention to detail.
  • Ability to Influence without direct authority.
  • Ability to juggle conflicting priorities and demands on time.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and get the job done without predefined process.
  • Experience with project documentation and administration.
  • Experience with service support systems especially Jira.
  • Self-Starter - Ability to motivate oneself and work on own initiative.
  • Team player - Ability to work within, and contribute to a team. Ability to drive teams whilst leading problem resolution.
  • Keen and enthusiastic.
