Capita Resourcing is the strategic resourcing business within Capita plc. We are the chosen provider of agency workers and permanent recruitment for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) collaborative framework, across nuclear sites and offices UK wide.

The Role Description

To provide cost estimates and planning to technical, transport and projects.

Responsible for preparation of costs estimates, maintaining and developing schedules, and providing other project office support (eg support of risk management processes) for technical, transport and projects

Reports to Estimating and Planning Manager.

Requires close liaison with many areas of the company (Transport, Commercial, Finance).

Essential & Desirable Skills

The role requires an individual with good knowledge of planning and estimating

Typical qualifications, experience and skills required are:

Good standard of education

Recognised professional qualification in a relevant area eg project planning

Good experience/knowledge/understanding of project planning, monitoring and control tools

Good knowledge cost estimating, or other relevant experience

Capable of building good working relationships across all areas of the business and with external parties eg SL

Good attention to detail in planning and preparation

Candidates must be proficient in the following software packages:

Microsoft Project 2010 - to Advanced level, by QA.com standards. Plus ideally able to update rolled up schedules using a flag system and edit Visual Basic for Applications programming

Microsoft Excel 2010 - to Advanced level, by QA.com standards. Plus ideally able to edit Visual Basic for Applications programming

Primavera P6 - schedule construction and updating, report creation

Main Responsibilities

Preparation of cost estimates for technical, project and transport activities including: preparation of budget voyage costs; and providing Commercial with estimates for Japanese Voyages in accordance with Contractual requirements.

Monitoring out turn costs against cost estimates, and supporting the development and maintenance of a cost estimating database to underpin and assist in the generation of cost estimates

Supporting contract/project managers with the justification of variations and claims

Preparation and maintaining plans and schedules for technical, project and transport activities including: tender schedules; project plans; asset plans; transport and voyage schedules and planning(detailed/short term/long term);

Supporting the development and maintenance of a planning database to underpin and assist in the generation of schedules

General project office support including maintenance of risk registers, KPIs and other progress reports

Staff will:

Manage own workload, including time and deadline management

Manage own performance including self development

Manage health and well being

Undertake other activities commensurate with their skills and experience as and when required

Be expected to support and implement corporate decisions and initiatives

Be required to be on-call out of hours on a rota as part of this role
