Infrastructure Monitoring Engineer

Location: Whiteley, Hampshire
Initial 6 month contract (long term project)
£ per day

*Must be eligible for SC Clearance, ideally you will be SC cleared*

Job Description

Requirement for a Infrastructure Monitoring Engineer with experience of the design and implementation of monitoring/alerting systems, to be an integral part of a new team developing an automated service solutions, for the deployment maintenance and support of a new large scale virtualised platform.

This will include the use of commercial off-the-shelf software, requiring you to integrate these into a total automated service solution.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

A particular knowledge domain.
Reviewing service requirements.
Presenting ideas for service improvements.
Producing detailed specifications and design documentation.
Working closely with associated engineering teams.
Design, Implementation and deployment of the alerting system.
Testing the services in controlled, real situations before going live.
Preparation of training manuals for users.
Maintaining and supporting the systems once they are up and running.

Required Skills:

Demonstrable knowledge and application of one or more of the following tools, within large scale deployments:

CA Spectrum
CA UIM
Integration with ITSM tooling
Alert Aggregation and grouping
Service representation and mapping
It is also required to have a solid understanding of Linux operating systems.
Scripting languages such as Bash, Python or Perl experience is essential.

Desirable Skills:

Experience with alternative Monitoring tools would be considered
Experience in ServiceNow integration with orchestration and automation tooling.
Configurations management tooling, ideally GIT.
Understanding of Linux operating systems.
Scripting languages such as Bash, Python or Perl.
Agile development practices and working within a scrum team from a sprint based backlog.
