Description

Embedded Firmware Engineer - Immediate Start - Ingolstadt, Germany - 80 - 90 EUR/hr - +6 Months

This role will focus on embedded firmware design and product development lifecycle for our ambitious product roadmap. The successful candidate will have experience developing and managing embedded firmware development projects for consumer products or similar. Experience with 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers, bare metal architectures, micro kernels such as FreeRTOS, and higher level operating systems such as embedded Linux will be essential. The ideal candidate would value all aspects of the software product lifecycle such as best practice coding standards, documentation, configuration management, issues tracking, test and source control methodologies.
Responsibilities:

* Design and development of embedded software, primarily in C, for consumer products from initial concept to on-going product support post launch
* Firmware project management such as estimating level of effort and timelines
* Influence continuous improvement within the Embedded Systems group
* Analyze product requirements to plan and estimate firmware development activities including coding, debugging and test
* Develop clear and concise firmware specifications and solutions to meet product requirements
* Develop and execute test plans for unit testing; and work closely with the system test team to ensure the delivery of high quality design
* Interact with team members from other disciplines to complete project deliverables, solve problems and to report status
* Support fielded products, and perform analysis of field-reported issues
* Lead and mentor junior engineers and technologists
Skills:

* BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent)
* Minimum of 5+ years experience in a firmware development role involving the coding, debugging, test and documentation of embedded designs
* Familiarity with ARM, STM, TI, Renesas, Microchip microcontrollers and IDEs
* Strong experience coding in ASM, C, and some C++
* Familiarity with agile/team collaboration firmware development and CMM
* Experience with motor and motion control is a plus
* Previous industry experience working on consumer products or the in-home Robot space is highly desirable
* Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or guidance
