IT Environment Delivery Manager

The IT Environment Delivery Manager is required to lead the definition and delivery of the required IT environments - infrastructure, technical components, software, and interfaces - required for the creation of an operational IT environment to support programme needs. You will lead the control and management of the environment(s) - there will be many different environments required for the programmes and this role will provide the control and gatekeeping of how these are used (and by whom and when), and upgraded and changed in response to programme needs.

The programme is closely aligned to a core Platform Replacement programme, which is a major IT transformation programme, with a common set of software products, and this role will be expected to work across both programmes at times.

- The work will be aligned with the development and testing strategy for critical programmes and ensuring all environment requirements are in place to support the progress of the functional and technical solution
- Solid technical understanding and strong project management competence is key in ensuring the delivery of environments
- The intended solution may be made up of different technology products, from different suppliers, requiring integration and market accreditation with external systems
- Environments to be provisioned and managed will include SAAS (AWS and Azure) and inhouse data centres
- This role will require building relationships with external suppliers, internal stakeholders, compliance with all necessary governance, and supporting industry testing qualification
- The solution being delivered is critical to customer operation and compliance with a government regulator and this role will require critical thinking and hard work to meet all required deadlines

Skills & Experience - Technical

- The role demands proven experience in IT Environment Management and Technical Environment & Infrastructure delivery
- A wide range of technical skills in all IT environment areas
- Strong IT project management skills to plan, co-ordinate multiple parties, and meet deadlines
- Experience gained in complex transformational programmes, working with many suppliers and where demanding timescales were met
- Ability to plan environments ahead over a one-month to twelve-month time horizon
- Ability to resolve competing demands for environments, and resources to provide
- Ability to control and schedule changes to environments including new software versions
- Ability to understand the development and test strategy that is relevant to the programme and technology, and develop underlying environment plans to support this
- Ability to engage with all IT groups, and build relationships with the business and external
stakeholders
- Understanding of SAAS infrastructure including, but not limited to, AWS and MS Azure, and also familiarity with in-house data centres
- Ability to understand and plan IT interfaces, and all the environment and networking demands to achieve these
- Proved delivery experience for an end-to-end solution, particularly where multiple components from multiple suppliers are required. This includes co-ordinating all required parties and creating a detailed project plan, and then running daily meetings where needed to ensure the delivery plan and schedule is met for all environments required.
- Understanding of IT security requirements and policy, and importance of, and seeking authority and approvals to proceed
- Planning of the Data requirements in each environment, and confirming the tools to load these and when to refresh
- Understanding of functional and non-functional requirement (NFR) testing and the environments needed to support this
