Purpose of the role: Workplace Platforms Lead Engineer

The Workplace Platforms Lead Engineer will play an integral role in both the day-to-day operation and continued enhancement of our workplace technology; providing technical leadership for our end user computing, unified communications, and meeting space technology.

Role Responsibilities: Workplace Platforms Lead Engineer

  • Take ownership for technical processes, methods, and tools for Workplace Platforms, ensuring the approach is as efficient as possible and delivers maximum flexibility to our business.
  • Proactively identify, design and develop new capabilities/processes within workplace platforms, to reduce manual effort, increase resilience, and deliver the best possible colleague experience.
  • Work with technology suppliers and vendors to productively deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Follow structured approach to technology implementation, Supplier Risk Assessments (SRA), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA), High (HLSD) and Low Level Solution designs (LLSD), raise changes, author colleague communications, transition to operational support.
  • Take ownership for the security of the technology you work with, and workplace platforms as a whole; ensuring best practice security principles are adopted by default and security vulnerabilities are proactively identified and addressed.
  • Support workplace platforms operationally, resolving incidents, fulfilling requests, and carrying out maintenance in a well-controlled and timely manner; ensuring that stakeholders are kept well informed throughout.

Necessary experience or qualifications

Essential:

  • Technical management of SCCM/Intune/Ivanti AppSense in an enterprise environment covering build, applications and deployments.
  • Application packaging using SCCM/Microsoft App-V.
  • Working Scripting skills especially PowerShell.
  • Practical experience of Windows domain services such as Active Directory, GPO.
  • Practical experience of administering Office 365 and associated technologies.
  • Maintenance and development of a Windows 10 desktop environment, including patch deployment.
  • Administration and support of an end user computing environment, in a regulated business.
  • Practical experience of managing Surface Pros/Hands on experience of a desktop replacement project.

Desirable:

  • Federating Identity/SSO technologies inc Azure AD, ADFS, AD connect, SAML, OAuth.
  • Maintenance and development of Desktop as a Service (DaaS) cloud technology eg Amazon Workspaces, MS MVD.
  • Modern/Next generations Desktop technology
  • Automation/Orchestration
  • Other Practical experience of Office 365, including Exchange Online, Intune, and beyond.
  • Monitoring and analysis tools, in an end user computing context eg Systrack.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 GCSE's grade A-C or equivalent qualification
  • 2 A Levels grade A-D or equivalent qualification
  • University Degree or equivalent, professional qualification(s)
