Installation Design Engineer - Telecoms/Rail/London Underground
Contract £c325p/day
Home based + some light travel to London when required.
is looking for experienced Installation Design Engineers with experience of London Underground installation design is required for ongoing contract positions to support this growing Rail Projects Team. The team are responsible for major station refurbishment programmes and deploying the latest station communications technology for London Underground. This includes the deployment of remote station management systems and integration with existing communication assets.
As an Installation Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the production of all installation design documentation on the project and ensure all works are carried out to the correct standard across IP/CCTV, PAVA, Cabling, and Electronic Display Systems
Typical deliverables to include:
- Produce designs in accordance with the Rail Engineering Plan.
- Ensure designs are risk assessed in accordance with CDM obligations.
- Liaise and co-ordinate all Installation Design aspects with the Lead Designer, System Design Authority and Engineering Manager
- Produce Bill of Materials against designs
- Produce detail design drawings and cable schedules
- Produce fixing schedules
- Production of designer's risk assessment
- Produce designs that are fully integrated with other disciplines.
- Production of primary and secondary CMS design
- Produce as-built documentation and associated test results.
- Host IDR and buildability reviews
- Provide inputs to the project risk register.
- Report against programme to relevant Project Manager.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with the Construction, Health & safety Plan, Environmental Plan and Quality Plan.
- Drive efficiencies in repeated work scopes through design re-use.
- Interface with internal discipline engineers to ensure all works are planned and completed on time
- Effective communicator (both written and verbal)
Skills, experience and qualifications required:
- Strong installation design experience for civils and/or communication installations
- Preferably experience in delivering telecoms related projects into a Rail or Metro environment, ideally for London Underground projects
- Effective communicator (both written and verbal)
- Ability to effectively direct others in the production of design packages and the implementation of these designs in a safe and controlled manner
- Degree or HNC in an Engineering related subject desirable
- IRSE License desirable
