EUC Infrastructure Azure Cloud Architect/Infrastructure Projects Technical Consultant (IPTC)

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires an EUC Infrastructure Azure Cloud Architect/Infrastructure Technical consultant (IPTC) be based in their client's office in UK. You can work remotely until covid abates.

This is a 6-month temporary contract with possibility of long-term duration to start on 1st August 2021

Key Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate will be an IT professional responsible for delivering projects in the end user productivity technology areas as a technical expert.
  • The Infrastructure Projects Technical Consultant (IPTC) ensures these solutions conform with the Enterprise IT architecture, are designed for successful delivery, and focuses on design and execution in addition to consulting.
  • The IPTC helps to define the Project Charters and may be requested to manage infrastructure projects and/or provide high-level expertise with hands-on activities surrounding development/deployment activities.
  • Candidate should be expected to be a technical informer for the Enterprise Technology & Projects (ET&P) team.
  • Responsible for understanding business requirements and delivering specific infrastructure systems, applications and designs for large complex IT solutions that comply with Client's underlying technical operating environments.
  • Desirable is someone who has experience in a technical consultant role who can clearly communicate technology concepts and information across different stakeholder groups and technical forums. Additionally, the individual should be comfortable within Agile and waterfall project methodologies and IT frameworks.
  • Enabling the design and planning effort on IT projects and ensuring technical and quality assurance standards on design, configuration management, monitoring and control are met.
  • Delivering IT infrastructure consultancy according to jointly agreed business objectives and criteria on cost and timing and meeting high quality standards of content and presentation.
  • Maintaining a broad knowledge and integrated view of current practice and developments within own area(s) of systems expertise and related areas of networks and applications
  • Co-ordinating or leading the design activity (low or high level) working effectively with Solution Architects, Suppliers, Customers and SMEs.
  • Developing and communicating appropriate quality criteria for technical products and IT projects and ensuring the adequacy and effective use of quality control procedures.
  • Enables successful and secure delivery of end user productivity solutions into the estate.
  • Conducting technical reviews/audits and risk assessments, recommending appropriate action to management, and seeking guidance from more experienced or specialised practitioners as required.
  • Projects and consultancy engagements will vary in budget, duration, and geography
  • Working in a global organization and with major outsourced suppliers of infrastructure project delivery (ATT and T-Systems).
  • Working virtually with their team and major stakeholders.
  • Incumbent will require expertise applicable to advising, scoping, designing, and defining projects which are either complex and broad in scope or requiring specific experience and expertise in a particular technical area.

Key Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Hands-on technical experience with leading infrastructure solutions from suppliers such as, but not limited to, Microsoft (Windows 10/O365), Citrix, VMWare plus experience of deploying large-scale EUC solutions into cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services
  • Technical Consultant Attributes.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the IT industry out of which 8 years in Technical Consulting
  • Understand both the business and IT context of technical solutions, how solutions align with IT strategy and deliver value.
  • Ability to interface with a variety of stakeholders, business, technical, vendors and third-party suppliers.
  • Represent projects in technical review boards, governance bodies and design authorities
  • Proficient influencing skills at all levels
  • Bolster the project delivery framework (PDF) by making key and timely decisions with regards technology choices and options.
  • Analytical and lateral problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Awareness of architectural governance and frameworks
  • Confidently interact with architects and engineers to ensure solutions are technically assured and comprehensive
  • Requires a strong technical understanding of the following Citrix technology and concepts.
  • NetScaler/ADC
  • Virtual Applications and Desktops
  • StoreFront
  • Citrix Cloud environments, including Cloud Connectors
  • Hybrid deployments - on premise and cloud
  • Microsoft, Citrix and VMware application and desktop virtualization technologies - Windows Virtual Desktop, Citrix Virtual Desktops & Applications (VDA), VMWare Horizon/Workspace One
  • Public and Private cloud hosting environments - Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services
  • Core platforms infrastructure knowledge - Networking concepts (routing, virtual networks, zoning), DNS
  • Identity and access management - Microsoft Active Directory/Azure Active Directory PingID or equivalent FAAS solution.
  • End user productivity software such as M365 (including Exchange/Outlook), Skype, Microsoft Teams.
  • Firewall technology (Palo Alto preferred)
  • Awareness of how virtual applications and desktops are deployed and used by various client devices and operating systems - Apple (iOS/MacOS), Android, Microsoft.
  • Demonstrated capacity to use standard modelling approaches, tools and model repositories.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying multiple technology solutions to business problems; and astuteness in identifying and implementing continuous process improvements.
  • Partner with business and IT representatives including architecture, application and infrastructure teams.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Platforms and Infrastructure team
  • Deliver a high level of technical excellence in implementation of initiatives
  • Assist with the design of Platform and Infrastructure systems
  • You have excellent stakeholder engagement/management/influencing skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a global/remote team environment, sensitive to client's needs.
  • 1 relevant accreditation to a base level (TOGAF, PMP, ITIL, MCT, MCSE, MCTA,VCP).
  • Experience with ITIL processes, managed services, help desk systems and related activities including ability to troubleshoot alerts.
  • An individual with a keen attitude who maintains constant upskilling through online opportunities and supplier event attendance.
