Description

The UK Hydrographic Office are seeking a .NET/SQL Developer to join their team in Taunton.

Team: Ministry of Defence|UK Hydrographic Office|Technology

Initial contracts will run for 6 months and offer a rate up to £475/day.

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. This engagement has been assessed by the public body as Inside IR35 legislation. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: at 15:00

This role requires Active SC (Security Check) clearance. Applicants require active SC clearance or the willingness to go through clearance before starting on site. Candidates with current clearance will be preferred.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work in an agile support team that manages incidents and seeks to continuously improve services.
  • Use automated testing and deployment to build and support a continuous delivery environment that sees frequent incremental changes deployed to production
  • Collaborate with others in the development community, identifying good practices we can adopt and sharing our experiences
  • Share knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team, both developer and non-developers
  • This role may include being part of an on call rota.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Extensive commercial experience in C#.Net
  • A good understanding of modern software engineering practices (DevOps principles including automated testing, pipelines etc.)
  • Experience commercial experience of working with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure)
  • Good problem solving abilities
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Terraform
  • Experience with Scripting languages (eg Powershell)
  • Infrastructure management (eg Active Directory, networking)
  • Experience with logging, telemetry
  • Experience within a software development support role

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 - General visas are cannot be accepted. This role requires that candidates be willing to undergo BPSS (DS) Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland).
