Python Developer: Commodities Trading

A World Leading Energy Company has an exciting opportunity for a Python Analyst/Developer to work on Commodities Trading.

These are really exciting opportunities where you will be helping to expand the trading desks quantitative ability by providing development support and best practices to market analysts. This will enable the desk analysts to continue working on the 'quant-stack' and the developers to work on the 'tech stack'. The quant or analyst developer will work in Tandem with the analysis team to build scalable models, or support middle and Back Office teams with their analysis and modelling needs.

As the Analyst/Developer with strong Python and Trading expertise, your responsibilities will be:
Produce accurate, performant, and maintainable code following all IT standards
Ensure that work is part of a coherent data landscape, contributing to the wider T&S data objectives and ambitions.
Build research tools with reuse in mind
Provide coaching and a point of focus for tech related enquires for quants
Liaise and collaborate directly with Traders and Quants

You need to have:

Mandatory
Python eg Packages and package management, async python etc.
Experience with data extraction, basic data wrangling/pipelines, etc.
Experience managing or consuming fundamental data related to commodity trading, preferably at multiple financial services organisations - experience in one or more of power, gas, carbon or LNG Trading/Commodities would make a candidate stand out.
Experience in working with low granularity time series data
Statistical background eg degree, masters or PhD in STEM subjects, or can demonstrate significant skill through prior projects
Can explain software engineering best practice eg CI/CD, 12-factor, git branching strategies, test automation
Excellent written and verbal communication
Takes pride in growing others through coaching, collaborating and supporting peers.
Can explain how designing and deploying for the cloud (eg Azure, AWS, GCP etc.) is different than designing for on-premise.

Optional
Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions for data engineering
Experience in one or more of power, gas, carbon or LNG Trading/Commodities
Experience with the Azure technical stack - but ability to explain the key components of any major cloud platform is fine.
Package code and models for deployment at scale eg containerised deployment, etc.
Familiarity with storage quality practices - (Gold/Silver/Bronze)
