Description

Currently on the look-out for a Voice Engineer to help with an on-premise deployment of a Cisco Contact Centre application named Cisco Unified Contact Centre Enterprise. This is underpinned by an IP Telephony call control application named Cisco Unified Communication Manager (CUCM). Additionally, applications for Voice Mail services named Cisco Unified Unity Connection (CUC) and an application for Remote Access named Expressway are deployed.

Decision is to migrate from the Cisco Contact Centre platform to a cloud hosted offering from another vendor. This will remove any of the existing dependencies between the Contact Centre and IP Telephony platforms. The CUCM application version 10.5 is reaching the end of support status with Cisco in July 2022. We require to upgrade the CUCM and CUC applications to keep them within Cisco support guidelines.

The requirement is to upgrade the existing CUCM and UNC applications to the latest recommended release. This is likely to be version 12.6 but will be reviewed at deployment time and agreed with the customer at project initiation.

This upgrade will also drive a replacement of the existing Servers, voice gateways and some of the existing IP Handsets.

Additionally, the recently deployed Expressway application was deployed as a single instance of each Expressway-C and Expressway-E nodes. As part of the upgrade project the solution should be extended to add secondary nodes to increase the availability of the solution.

  • The Sr. Network Voice Engineer (Cisco Voice Over IP Engineer) supports the planning, deployment, implementation, and maintenance of our client's enterprise IP telephony infrastructure.
  • Responsibilities include technology development and research, design and implementation, infrastructure design, engineering of network-based telephony services, level-2 and level-3 technical problem management.
  • Much of the work of the Sr. Cisco VoIP Engineer will be split between project-based efforts and operational support. This position works independently with vendor-partners on technology products and services to ensure smooth operations as well migrations from Legacy PBX system to the new Cisco CUCM.
  • The Sr. Cisco VoIP Engineer also coordinates with other groups within IT to resolve multi-disciplinary issues-specifically with the WAN and LAN engineers on technical issues that span these domains.
