Description
Our client has an existing, mature product, with a significant user base. Today, most of the customers either run the product on-premises in their own data, or the client hosts it for them in their data centre. Historically it has taken a long time to set up and manage the infrastructure for each customer and is done as a manual task. They have already done some work to automate the provisioning of the infrastructure, and are now focusing on the next phase which is to move to a multi-tenant cloud infrastructure using containerisation.
The project will have 3 main areas:
- Containerisation of the existing application to gold standard (best practice)
- Target architecture design (AWS container service (EKS), container registry, secrets management, networking, RBAC security etc)
- Pipeline automation (infrastructure, application build, container, deployment, quality gates etc)
We are looking for a Technical Lead to design the solution to a target AWS environment and deploy using Azure DevOps. They also need this person to lead and mentor internal resources and the end client so that they can upskill and support in future.
Essential skills:
- Hands-on experience of containerisation of applications and design of production EKS architecture
- Expertise IaC and automation using Azure DevOps (ADO), CloudFormation/CLI, TerraForm
- Scripting such as Bash or Python
- Previous Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline creation
- Excellent networking (NSG's, VLANs) and cloud platform services knowledge such as EC2, ECR, Key/Secrets Management
- Experience of implementing and automating observability products such as Prometheus & Grafana
- Previous experience of designing and implementing security policy eg RBAC
Nice to have skills:
- Java application stack/JBOSS
- Oracle/Postgres database
This is a lead role and will be a mixture of solution design, hands-on engineering and development, and mentoring junior team members.
