Rate: 600/day max

Duration: 6 months

The Role

As a Senior Research Operations Officer, you'll be responsible for making sure the most important part of user-centric design research can happen: operations - standards and governance - resourcing and admin - knowledge management and advocacy.

You will ensure the research systems and processes are running smoothly to enable the User Research Team to run well. You will be responsible for (not limited to) ensuring our research is done to high ethical standards and conforms to the governance procedures, creating templates and guidance for researchers, building an insights library, and where needed providing high quality and reliable research participants; build relationships and contribute to building the operational infrastructure to support a growing research team.

You will work with a team of user researchers, a user research operation lead, a senior research operations coordinator, a project support officer and the Head of user research. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about operations and user research and loves understanding people and systems.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with user researchers and research operations to provide the systems, strategies, and tools needed to support experience research in delivering and scaling insights that drive business outcomes across the firm
  • Advise user researchers on governance procedures and how to ensure their research is ethical and complies with standards
  • Create various templates and guidance that user researchers can use day-to-day
  • Work with the Research Operations Lead to source and evaluate research vendors when needed.
  • Interface with legal, security and procurement teams to onboard and pay vendors, including writing statements of work and negotiating business terms and budget
  • Work with the Research Operations Lead & Head of User Research to procure user researcher tools and ensure they are compliant with GDP, security and legal.
  • Continue to build the insights library based on the user research we have done.
  • Collaborate with researchers in carrying out research studies, taking care to understand the research goals, constraints, and specific considerations in order to find the best possible research participants.
  • Work closely with our recruitment partner to ensure that exceptional sampling and quality of participants are being sourced.
  • Work with the Research Operations Lead to build an internal research participant management system to recruit, engage, and retain a pool of active community members.
  • Where required, source, screen and schedule participants for research studies ensuring exceptional sampling and participant quality.
  • Create thoughtful, targeted, effective written communication for high volume and high visibility survey sends and recruiting efforts.
  • Experiment with new tools, processes, and techniques to improve the work produced by you and your peers. Continuously propose new ideas and tools for improving workflow & efficiency.
  • Document and share lessons learned - develop and maintain team resources including team website, training materials, best practices, playbooks, and commonly used resources.
  • Track the effectiveness of screener/surveys and collect metrics about responses and show rate successes and failures to ensure we're continually improving our tactics.
  • Track and organize team expenses, budgets, and reports.
  • Onboard new team members.
  • Where required, coordinate study logistics for participant research studies including: facility scheduling, tool management and distribution of incentives, and coordination with other teams.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for a Senior Research Operations Officer who has:

  • 2+ years of experience in research operations-related role; an ideal candidate will have 1+ years of experience as a people manager
  • Crafted, implemented, and owned operational processes for research governance and ethics,
