Voice Core Support Engineer - Ericsson/IMS

Please note this role is inside IR35

My client is currently seeking 2 x experienced Voice core support engineers for a long term contract engagement.

The core voice Support Engineer role is an essential position within the team and provides an essential part of the customer support, fault investigation and end-to-end project delivery function providing test and operational and excellent levels of co-ordination and guardianship of the network. This demands a pro-active approach looking for improvements from design, test, support, reporting, monitoring, and delivering these.

Key Responsibilities

  • Find solutions to complex technical faults within E///core network.
  • To provide testing support for E///core network solutions when required.
  • To investigate faults and to provide technical expertise when requested.
  • To provide 24x7 on-call and hands-on support, as part of a rota.
  • To provide project out of hours support for FOAs and rollouts.
  • To provide testing services to project and issues for core voice network nodes.
  • Actively manage LIVE and test issues working closely with the vendor(s).
  • Actively lead the co-ordination and updates of ongoing service optimisation activities.
  • Actively look for improvements to reporting, alarming, monitoring, training & education.
  • Provide engagement to project teams for impact assessment, design review, planning of logical phases and required delivery process.
  • Provide technical advice to change planning and implementations.

Key Skills/Experience

  • Ericsson MBC, HLR, HSS, HSSFE, SBG, IPWorks, SES, BGF, AAA, PCRF, CSCF, MGW and virtualised solutions vMSS, vIMS nodes, vMGW, vHSS.
  • Ericsson UDB.
  • Empirix EXMS, IntelliSight, PRM tools.
  • Linux/UNIX, Network IP, SS7, IMS/SIP, Sigtran
  • ProOptima

Other duties/responsibilities include:

  • Assist day to day management of test environment ensuring it is fit for purpose and service.
  • Carry out testing of core voice project(s) and/or tasks upon request.
  • Provide service related incident reports to an agreed SLA's & KPI's and give input to incident reviews.
  • Active involvement in 3rd party supplier management, driving for continuous improvement.
  • Pro-active input to operational design architecture, making services customer centric.
  • Ensure optimum core voice network performance of systems and platforms.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing service process and user experience.
  • Interface with, Design, Service Operations & Delivery teams & vendors as required.
  • Ensure that voice enhancements/new services align with operational requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operational process by other teams.
  • Interface with other Service Operations & Delivery teams to align strategic core approach.
  • Provide service overview training and mentoring for other team members.
  • Deliver quality presentations regarding agreed subject matter using standard tools.
  • Deliver excellent results in short timescales, with a flexible but focussed approach.
