Site Reliability Engineer - Leeds - 3 months - £570/day (inside IR35)
A leading global data, analytics and technology company are looking for a number of Site Reliability Engineers to be based flexibly from Leeds on an initial 3 month contract.
Site Reliability Engineering combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems. This is a key role to ensure internal and external services meet or exceed reliability and performance expectations while adhering to company engineering principles.
You will be responsible for building and running production systems, as well as engineering solutions to operational problems. You will be responsible for overall system operation, using a plethora of tools and approaches to solve a broad set of problems. You will engage in and improve all stages of the software development life cycle; supporting services prior to production, and maintaining services during deployment and in production.
Necessary qualifications:
BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (eg, physics or mathematics), or equivalent job experience
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Experience developing and/or administering software in public cloud
Experience monitoring infrastructure and application uptime and availability to ensure functional and performance objectives such as Pagerduty, Datadog, or Grafana
Experience in languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash, Java, Go, Javascript and/or node.js
Good system administration skills, including automation and orchestration of Linux/Windows using Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Salt Stack, and containers (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
Proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery tooling and practices
Desirable
Expertise designing, analysing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
Experience using Terraform or CloudFormation to manage infrastructure as code
Passion for automation
This job would particularly suit someone with strong communication skills, a passion for DevOps, and experience building software or maintaining systems in a highly secure or regulated industry.
