Description

Our client, Legal & General, is looking for a Devops Engineer to join their UC4 Phase 2 development project to design, develop, test and implement the required changes. The successful candidate will upgrade UC4 FTP jobs by:

  • Designing system changes
  • Updating code
  • Writing and testing scripts
  • Undertaking stand-alone testing of changes
  • Supporting integration and User Acceptance Testing
  • Implement changes
  • Providing warranty support
  • Continually incorporating quality management, assurance, company security and best practices
  • Ensuring proper implementation of changes in accordance with agreed Change Management procedures
  • Providing managers with timely updates and notification of potential issues
  • Interacting with a variety of stakeholders including internal clients (users of scheduling applications and integration systems), Project Managers, Business Analysts, Data Analysts, QA Analysts and other Production Support Teams.

Requirements:

  • A thorough knowledge of Automation tools with significant experience in UC4 development, or alternatively Perl, Bash or similar scheduler system.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity of systems or services issues relating to UC4 scheduling.
  • Educated to degree level is preferred but not essential.
  • Must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of business and IT staff.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to record accurately all steps involved in issue investigation and resolution.
  • Highly analytical with logical approach to problem solving.
  • Strong understanding of job scheduling, dependencies, calendars and related.
  • Scripting ability on Perl, Shell or similar languages.
  • Good troubleshooting skills, preferably with background from application support organizations.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Exposure to Apache NiFi
  • Exposure to application integration, to include Queue and Web Service technologies.
  • Good command of SQL (including analytical SQL and query tuning), preferably in Oracle.

Additional information

  • Initially a temporary contract for 6 months to see project through to completion. Project is due to end mid-2022, however an extension will be offered if required.
  • Day rate of up to £500 inside of IR35, either direct PAYE via Resource Solutions or through Umbrella company (uplift will apply).
  • The team are currently working remotely, however are starting to integrate back into the office so the role will require someone who is happy to attend the office in London (1 Coleman Street) for a couple of days a week.
