Location: Hybrid model. 2-3 days on site (London).
Rate: up to £525 per day (outside IR35)
Duration: 3 months initially and likely extensions to 12 months.
Site: Large end user site.
IN SHORT: This role is on the infrastructure side rather than the application side and requires MultiValue (Universe pref) and Linux/CentOS skills.
We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to work with an end-user client in the insurance world. This is a hybrid role working 2-3 days on a large end user site in London and the remaining time working from home. Initially working on a 3 month contract basis with likely extensions for 12 months, this role is on the infrastructure side rather than the application side.
As an Infrastructure Engineer your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting on both the development and infrastructure of UniVerse/MultiValue
- Driving architectural discussions in support of business requirements gathering, analysis, and design
- Collaborating with MultiValue Universe Developers, Systems Operations, and Universe vendors as needed to solve integration challenges
- Recommending tools and methodologies to engineers, create proof-of-concept implementations for demonstration
- Breaking large complex systems into manageable subsystems and components, each of which can be managed by individuals or teams in a scalable manner
- Creating and utilizing automations for initializing and provisioning systems and facilitate larger IT department orchestration
- Utilizing tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to drive consistency of configured systems.
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation and utilize version control systems, such as Git
- Leading and designing complex projects ensuring that solutions are of the highest of standards
The successful Infrastructure Engineer will have the following skills and experience:
- MultiValue skills - preferably Universe but otherwise UniData, D3, mvBase etc will be fine
- Expert knowledge of Linux operating system (CentOs/RedHat)
- Subject matter expert for Linux Operating System
- Good understanding of MultiValue (pref Universe) application on CentOS (RedHat, RHEL)
- Architect highly scalable and available solutions based on industry best practices and practical experience

- Audit & Logging
- Universe File Permissions
- Telnet and FTP services for UniVerse
- User authentication
- Password settings
