Principal Engineer - Systems (Requirements)
£41.87 per hour PAYE or £53.81 per hour Umbrella (Inside IR35)
Barrow, Cumbria
Initially 12-month contract
Advantage Resourcing are working in partnership with a large engineering company who operate within the defence sector and are currently seeking an experienced Principal Engineer
to work on site in Barrow.
Job Description
This role sits at the centre of our major drive towards creating Engineering Facilities for the future using systems engineering approach to our requirements gathering and concept development with our Project Architects and other specialist Engineers.
Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering will involve:
*Understanding our customers' challenging needs and acting as a subject matter expert; analysing, preparing and communicating these using architectural methodologies
*Supporting the development of our Requirements packages in line with the Architectural RIBA 3 life cycle stage through workshops, presentations and direct support to other Engineering teams.
*Taking accountability for technical work packages, presentations and documentation.
*The provision of advice and recommendations, based on expertise and experience, to address infrastructure owner needs.
*To draw on specialist knowledge and experience in the organisation; to maintain a network of recognised experts who can deliver expert advice in areas relevant to the organisation's current and future infrastructure needs.
*The collaborative creation and iteration of viable specifications and acceptance criteria.
*The elicitation, analysis, specification and validation of requirements and constraints to a level that enables effective development and operation of RIBA Stage 3.
*Steering new systems development through implementation of best practice systems life cycle processes
Essentials:
*You have a Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) in relevant STEM subject (Engineering/Physics/Maths/Science)
*Experience undertaking Systems Engineering activities.
*Systems Integration, Verification and Validation
*You are good at Implementing and Governing Engineering Lifecycles
*Defining and managing System interfaces
Desirables:
*You would have practical experience with DOORs, or similar requirements management and Systems Modelling toolsets.
*Practical knowledge of the RIBA Architectural Stages of Project Management
*Software Systems and Verification
*IP Networking and Data Communications
*Control systems ie, PLCs
*Avionics Development
*Configuration Management (policy and implementation)
*Qualification Certification and Acceptance
*Submarine Platform Knowledge including operational experience
