Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Digital Technical Development Lead for an initial 3 month contract on a rate of £175-£225/day (outside of IR35). Due to the current circumstances this role will be remote based for the foreseeable future.

Responsibilities:

- Coaching and mentoring of the IT Team to enable knowledge and skills transfer to enable a sustainable internal expertise base for this work ongoing.
- Identify the shape and size of ongoing IT resources required ongoing to sustainably support digital investment and vision.
- Encourage the efficient use of ICT and support the Digital Team to understand and embrace the potential that MS platform could enable to drive business improvement.
- Help establish the IT Support Team that provides triaging capabilities that enables the filtering of user support requests that should go to external third parties for resolving user technical issues.
- Support the Database Lead to maintain and manage an internal Helpdesk facility and single points of contact. Management of internal helpdesk software and communication needs to external service providers;
- Address directly users who are having issues other than technically related for example help to identify user additional training needs;
- Address directly user system configuration and or administration needs as necessary;
- Ensure that details of all the ICT assets purchasedowned across the estate, including purchase dates and warranty details are labelled and recorded and kept up to date by the team;
- To support the need for an organisation wide asset database of all high value ICT assets as defined within the asset register policy;
- To ensure a design review and end user devices/equipment replacement program is in place to maintain the assets throughout their efficient life expectancy;
- Provide physical access to clients own devices to the business network within a secure and safe fashion;
- Ensure there is in place a secure and efficient method of patching end user operating systems and where practical the list of applications agreed ICT team support;
- Ensure all assets issued and the data are secure and protected at the physical and first level of user access ie the physical end user device;
- Ensure security is set across the Microsoft Tenancy at logon authentication level and the application and data storage level, maintain an appropriate level of security which is both secure and flexible for end user devices within the tenancy;
- Ensure anti threat software is deployed across the organisation issued end user devices for anti-virus/spam threats and other software or code based threats;
- Ensure the development and continued support of business continuity and disaster recovery planning for end user devices, this will include contingency testing as necessary;
- Management of user support external service providers and their compliance with relevant service level agreements
- Work collaboratively and in partnership with other staff in relation to business improvement;

Essential Skills:

- A minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a computer related subject or 2 years' experience in a technical role;
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems and applications as well as Microsoft Azure and Office 365 security options;
- Good understanding of PC hardware and application architecture;
- Previous experience in a customer focused role is essential;
- Excellent customer service skills and telephone manner;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Ability to contribute effectively to the further development of the a team in a demanding and multi-disciplined environment;
- Able to work under own initiative is essential;
- Ability to work under pressure with several conflicting demands on their time.
