Senior DevOps Engineer - Government - Remote Working - 6 months inside IR35

A central government organisation are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to deliver and integrate software to form a complete DevOps toolchain, resulting in the effective and efficient delivery of existing and new products. You are focused on process improvements that achieve high-quality, cost-efficient outcomes and implement strategies that centre around being repeatable and scalable. You are deeply technical, enjoy solving complex puzzles and working on important, high-impact projects. You are customer-focused and go the extra mile to respond to user needs. You think widely, broadly and creatively about technical challenges and are able to troubleshoot and problem solve autonomously.

The Senior DevOps Engineer role is critical to the Software Engineering function and is an expert across many technical areas.

Technical Requirements

Our Senior DevOps Engineer position requires experience expected across:
*Cloud technology: Azure
*Scripting: PowerShell
*Pipeline configuration: GitLab, TeamCity and Octopus Deploy
*Windows Servers
*SQL

Criteria 1 - Technical Experience
Strong experience across Cloud technology (Azure), Scripting (PowerShell), Pipeline configuration (TeamCity and Octopus Deploy), Windows Servers and SQL.

Criteria 2 - Development process optimisation
Able to identify process optimisation opportunities with guidance to contribute to the implementation of proposed solutions.

Criteria 3 - Modern standards approach
Strong understanding and application of the most appropriate modern standards and practices. Takes responsibility for coaching and guiding others.

Criteria 4 - Programming, build and service support
Collaborates with others when necessary to review specifications and uses these agreed specifications to design, code, test and document programmes or scripts of medium to high complexity, using the right standards and tools. Demonstrates a breadth of understanding of service support.

Criteria 5 - Systems design and integration
Will design systems characterised by medium levels of risk, impact and business or technical complexity. Selects appropriate design standards, methods and tools and ensures they are applied effectively, Reviews the systems designs of others to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems and technology. Establishes standards and procedures across a service life cycle include the development life cycle and ensures that practitioners adhere to this. Manages resources to ensure that the systems integration function works effectively.
