Principle Electronics Design Engineer
Opportunity for a Principal Electronics Design Engineer with a growing organisation in the Defence (Naval & Air) sector. Working closely with clients you will be instrumental in solution design and development working on a variety of projects.
Seeking a broad background in electronics deign and highly experienced in the design of innovative, high reliability and low power consumption electronic circuits taking into account component obsolescence and manufacture-ability.
Key experience sought:
- Electronics related degree or significant demonstrable experience
- Highly proficient in the design and layout (ideally using Altium) of innovative, high-reliability, power-efficient electronic circuits for use in demanding environments
- In depth understanding of the principles of designing for success in EMC testing
- Experience of designing PCB assemblies with JTAG interfaces
- Experience of electronics packaging design
- Experience of working with various micro controllers and associated micro code
- Experience of designing for test
- Experience of designing functional test and establishing and documenting test coverage
- Experience of analogue circuit design for sensors and interfaces
- Able to identify and assess power/battery solutions for demanding environments
- Able to estimate work effort with reasonable accuracy, and finish on time without close supervision
- Pro-active problem solver and out-of-box thinker
Additional skills of key interest:
- Experience of electronics cooling simulation software (ideally SolidWorks Electronics Cooling)
- Knowledge/experience of designing Intrinsically Safe circuits
- Practical LabView experience
- Experience of working with C++ and/or C for microcontrollers
- Practical exposure to software programming
- Knowledge or proven ability to interpret defence standards
- Experience in a fast-paced Aerospace or Defence Quality manufacturing environment desirable.
