Hardware Design Engineer Automation Products PCB

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services requires Hardware Design Engineers in their client's office in Worthing, UK. You may work remotely until covid abates.

This is a 5-7-month temporary contract to start on 15th Dec 2021.

Job Purpose

To undertake the detailed design of Hardware solutions for customer's automation products - from concept through to Production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and overseeing the production of robust and reliable hardware equipment (PCBs)
  • Designing and testing circuits, managing component issues.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of designs and managing change where necessary
  • Estimating cost, reliability, and other risk factors
  • Analysing information and recommending appropriate hardware solutions
  • Interacting with Manufacturing for production related processes
  • Producing documentation in line with company quality procedures.

Key Requirements

  • More than 5 years demonstrable experience of producing high quality Embedded hardware designs for industrial applications.
  • More than 5 years' experience of working within an ISO9001 qualified process, producing high quality design and test documentation.
  • Good understanding of analog and digital electronic design fundamentals, within an industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with 32bit microcontrollers, especially ARM M-class and A-class based SOCs
  • Knowledge of FPGA based design (Xilinx or equivalent) will be a big plus.
  • Familiarity with designing robust products for difficult EMC environments.
  • Designing with Ethernet, CANFD, Profibus or other communications protocols
  • Good understanding of industry standard component management, schematic design, and simulation tools.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Powerpoint and Excel is essential.
  • Designing with programmable logic and using hardware description languages, especially for Xilinx platforms is desirable
  • Designing with Ethernet, CANFD, Profibus or other communications protocols is desirable.
