Position: Architect

Duration: 6 months

Location: Bristol

IR35: Outside (this will be provided to our client as a statement of work)

Clearance: An active SC clearance is required

We are currently looking for an Architect for a statement of work being provided into once of our clients working in the UK defence sector. They are looking for someone to start ASAP until around the end of May 2022. You will already need to have experience working into the MOD as an Architect. You will also need to hold an active SC clearance (used in the last 12 months).

Contractor shall provide Architectural guidance and decision support to work package leads.

As a minimum this will include:

  • Delivery in accordance with relevant statement of requirements plus additional tasks as required to support the authority and below
  • Accountable and Responsible for delivery of Architectures and design artefacts for required project using Sparx Enterprise Architect and Archimate
  • Develop Architectural diagrams & views using Sparx Enterprise Architect in line with programme guidance.
  • Obtain cross functional engagement and agreement on architectures resulting in collaborative development of designs
  • Engage and direct suppliers in relation to architectural and design matters
  • Attending daily/weekly briefs with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Support relevant workshops.
  • Manage the oversight of project and programme Architecture/design Risks
  • Security: Maintain SC Clearance and comply with the published security requirements of the Project.
  • Review and provide authoritative feedback on architecture design documentation created by industry partners, to check conformance with the client's Ways of Working and policies.
  • Architectural SME delivery and support on assigned BATCIS projects.
  • Review of industry delivered architecture and design artefacts to determine coherence & conformance with programme and project architectures.

Skills required:

  • Experience of design and review of system architectures through the application of patterns and principles.
  • Experience of working with both Industry and MOD organisations in Early Stages of Programme Start up.
  • Experience of delivering cross cutting Architectures.
  • Experience and Knowledge of the MOD Acquisition System Operating Model.
  • Experience of Operating within Defence Digital Environment.
  • Knowledge of Defence CIS, Land Tactical CIS, pan-Government and NATO CIS services.
  • Knowledge of relevant JSP's & DEFSTAN's.
  • Knowledge of MOD Equipment's currently in service and to be released into service within next 5 years.
  • Experience of Enterprise and Service Approach to Security Architecting. Understanding of Generic Soldier and Vehicle Architectures an advantage.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Sparx EA. Archimate® certification or significant professional experience
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of TOGAF®. Certification an advantage
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of ITIL
  • Highly skilled in Architectural problem management, able to consider all relevant information and apply appropriate rigor to ensure a full solution is designed and achieves the business outcome.
