Job Description
Our client is seeking a Kafka Engineering Administrator who will provide hands on expertise in the Migration and maintenance of a multi-node Kafka cluster environment ecosystem that is originally built on Hortonworks.
Due to a demerger, our client has a requirement to split a kafka ecosystem into a new company domain.
As In a Kafka Engineering Administrator you will
- migrate our messaging and streaming solution in a way that satisfies our demerger objectives, technology architecture standards and departmental best practices.
- design and implement event sourcing strategies, administer enterprise-wide messaging architecture, and provide daily management of Kafka eco-system.
- develop and maintain the messaging infrastructure ensuring message delivery, security, retention, and recoverability of the topics and messages.
Responsibilities:
- Migrate an existing multi-node Kafka cluster environment
- Manage multi-node Kafka cluster environment residing on-prem platform.
- Handle all Kafka environment builds, including design, capacity planning, cluster setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring.
- Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for the Kafka Cluster.
- Create of key performance metrics, measuring the utilization, performance, and overall health of the cluster.
- Capacity planning and implementation of new/upgraded hardware and software releases as well as for storage infrastructure.
- Ability to closely collaborate with product managers, Developers and lead engineers.
- Provide guidance in the creation and modification of standards and procedures
- Create topics, setup redundancy cluster, deploy monitoring tools, alerts for ongoing topics
- Proactively monitor and setup alerting mechanism for Kafka Cluster and supporting hardware to ensure system health and maximum availability
- Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for the Kafka cluster
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to production support.
- Provide Level 3 support for development teams that are utilizing the platform
- Supporting the addition of new topics on the platform to support ongoing projects
- 3+ years of experience with Apache Kafka or Confluent Kafka
- 3+ years relevant experiences
