Systems Architect - 12 month contract - Christchurch - £60.93ph UMB or £47.41ph PAYE (Inside IR35)

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (ie the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.

Security requirements: Full SC

This role will require the person to hold full Security Clearance (SC) prior to working onsite. You will need to obtain a BPSS check as part of this process. You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct and/or indirect access to ITAR Material which means there are restrictions on dual nationals, therefore you must hold a sole British Nationality to apply for this role. Job Description

As a Systems Architect, you will provide assured & articulate design of system functionality across the network & systems architecture and verify that the whole system's performance meets the necessary requirements. You would also provide direction, information, and recommendations regarding system & network configurations and installations to support the various aspects of overall System integration. Network development including: design, analysis, of the network infrastructure or application components.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to Work on complex, cutting-edge projects and develop skills at a prestigious company providing advanced defence technology that protects people and national security, and keeps critical information and infrastructure secure.

As a Systems Architect you will work closely with the Programme Manager and Programme Engineering Manager to successfully deliver our customer commitments. You must have the technical ability, aptitude, with the ability to take full ownership of requirements, architectures, technology & product choices, in conjunction with product safety, security and certification.

The role offers the potential for flexible working, with the opportunity for home and hybrid working patterns (subject to project constraints).

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Analyse, define, evaluate, plan and deliver systems to meet programme, business and customer requirements
  • Apply engineering and architecture expertise to complex problems, products, and systems including process development
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and other functions to help shape their thinking
  • Articulating, defining and documenting subject expertise.
  • Providing technical direction to engineers, ensuring teams are skilled, trained and competent such that technical capability objectives are fully achieved.
  • Maintain a good understanding of competitors and suppliers products and services
  • Thorough knowledge of latest technologies and how they can be applied to help solve problems
  • Lead and inspire the team to continually raise the bar and push technology boundaries
  • Facilitate the evolution of innovation ideas, prototyping, development, productionising, delivery, support and decommissioning
  • Support wider business vision and strategy to achieve business level objectives

Essential/Desirable skills

Essential:

  • Network Engineering experience with relevant, up to date training/experience in Cisco and/or Juniper, ideally holding or having held recent CCNP, CCDA/P or equivalent
  • Experience in network systems/infrastructure design (Enterprise Architect, Visio, Excel, Word, Documentation)
  • Experience reviewing, revising and agreeing complex network and system designs
  • Experiences to include Network Management and Monitoring Systems
  • Experience in Network security (Firewalls and IDS) design and implementation. Knowledge of NGFW, Cisco ASA Firewalls and VPN technologies
  • Experience in WAN design and configuration
  • Good understanding of VMware
  • A working knowledge of SAN Technologies.
  • Experience with requirements analysis
  • Experience Liaising with Project Managers, Support Engineers, and Management on a regular basis

Competence in:

  • Use of NCSC secure design principles and industry best practice in the design of system and security architectures
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of IT and how it can address customer requirements
  • Design, development and delivery of plans, processes, products, systems and services
  • Cost/benefits analysis for appropriate technologies in areas such as compute, storage, and networking including security aspects.

Understanding of:

  • MoD or Industry IT projects and programmes
  • Information Assurance (IA) and cyber security
  • Security architectures, COTS integration and virtualisation
  • Enterprise level designs and cloud based solutions
  • Current and emerging technologies and roadmaps
