Infrastructure Linux/Unix Admin- Datacenter Migration/Separation
Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires Infrastructure Linux/Unix Administrators to be responsible for ubix/Linux technical delivery to assist in AB/AH Datacenter migration/separation based in their client's office in Nottingham, UK.
You may be able to work some days remotely.
This is a 6-Months temporary contract to start ASAP
Day rate: Competitive Market rate
Key Responsibilities
Deliverable
- To work as team member to ensure technical delivery
- To assist Hammer programme by identifying technical deliveries from the HLD.
- To assist programme by deriving LLD (low level diagram) from HLD (High Level Diagram) shared by customer.
- Mainly responsible for any technical delivery required for Hammer
- To Install, configure, and maintain services such as DNS, DHCP, NFS, Apache Web Server, Samba, SSH, RPM and YUM Repository.
- To perform standard system administration tasks such as troubleshooting and problem resolution, patching,
- To install packages using rom and yum, drivers, software and hardware upgrades.
- To use Puppet tool for managing system configurations, creating and push profiles to new Servers.
- To performed automated installations of Operating System using kickstart for Red Hat Enterprise Linux/6/7.
- To wrote Shell Scripts for various system tasks such as back-ups, collecting and sorting logs, installation and
- To configured iptables Firewall and hardening Linux systems for system security.
- To managed disks and file systems using LVM.
- To administered Nagios/similar monitoring tools for Servers monitoring and incident alerts
- To monitor performance of Servers using tools such as sar, top, free, vmstat, lostat, traceroute, eto.
- To plan and prepare growth projections on the systems.
- Performed troubleshooting existing user accounts, security objects and authorizations to resolve security conflicts by creating sudo rules, supporting users, setting up new accounts and password resets.
- To get involved in dally incident management and resolved the day-to-day problems raised by the users and incidents
- To ensure team delivers software of high quality through code reviews, test enhancements, etc.
- To participate in the planning, design meetings, and implementation efforts.

- Should be able to communicate in English fluently (verbal and written)
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering and proven experience in Data center Infrastructure building.
- Should be experienced in presenting ideas, influencing, and build consensus in a group setting.
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Good communicator with ability to work directly with key IT teams.
- Positive can-do attitude with the ability to take ownership and resolve issues on their own accord.

Key Requirements
Essential
- 8-10 years' relevant experience
- Strong in Unix/Linux administration
- Hands-on experience in data center infrastructure build/migration activities.
- Expert in patching/installing OS, building new VMs, Migrating/cloning VMs from source to target DC
- Adding/removing server resources
- Adding/removing storages
- Troubleshooting unreachable Servers
- Installation of software/product on Linux/Unix flavors
- Expertise in capacity planning
- Ability to write up LLD (Low level Diagram) from HLD (High Level diagram)
- Basic Networking abilities, network troubleshooting, problem resolution
- Good knowledge on below technologies
- Shell Scripting
- Bulk installation through Scripting
- Monitoring Servers using tools
