SAN Architect - SC Cleared - Hybrid - £650-£700 per day
The role of the Project Technical Architect is to:
. Develop and own Low-Level Designs in line with High Level Designs.
. Carry out peer review of LLDs
. Lead Technology Focus Groups to advise on best practices.
. Provide pre-sales support and cost estimates on designs, transitions and implementations.
. Mentoring to enable knowledge and skill transfer to less experienced colleagues
. Provide On-Call and perform Out of hours change work.
. Keep up to date with emerging technologies
. Provided solution governance within the infrastructure development life cycle
Key Skills
Be a subject matter expert in their chosen discipline & have a broad understanding of all areas within their discipline
Write and communicate Low Level Designs and proposals.
Identify, assess and mitigate technical issues and risks.
Communicate effectively at all level within the organization including clients.
Maintain security and documentation standards.
Perform OS Install/Patching/Firmware updates in line with best practices.
Define and design Disaster Recovery procedures.
Advanced Shell Scripting & Automation techniques.
Performance Analysis and Proposals Documentation.
Recruitment interview techniques
Provide feedback on HLD reviews where subject matter area is impacted, eg viability, product selection, best practice

Essentials:
- Experienced in solution deployment.
- Strong understanding of ITIL and change management methodology
- Delivered multiple LLD's
- Experienced in systems implementation.
- Strong familiarity with virtualization concepts (Oracle VM, VMWARE, AIX LPARS)
- Ability to design High Availability Enterprise Unix Solutions (Red Hat clustering, Veritas Cluster Server (VCS), SUN Cluster, PowerHA (HACMP)
- Ability to design Server Standards including Hardening, High Availability Enterprise Wintel Microsoft best practices and Server Standards.
- Ability to design High Availability Enterprise SAN Solutions
- Mentoring to enable knowledge and skill transfer to less experienced colleagues
- Lead Junior TA's
- Manage small discipline teams to deliver solutions on time and to budget
Ability to design network solutions, including:
- General routing and switching
- Data center technologies such as Nexus switching and load balancing
- WAN knowledge - MPLS and vendor connection deliver characteristics
- WiFi
- Network security including next generation Firewalling, IDS, UTM
Desirable:
- HND/Degree in IT, Science or Engineering related subject or equivalent relevant experience
- Demonstrable experience of Enterprise solution design within area of expertise including ability to translate functional and non-function requirements into the low-level design.
- Delivered designs across a range of projects, new builds, tech refreshes, migrations
- Experience of more than 3 Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Strong understanding of enterprise storage, backup and network configurations
- In-depth experience of Microsoft/VMWare operating systems.
- Strong understanding of enterprise storage, backup and network configurations
- Extensive Cisco knowledge
- Experience of more than 3 SAN/Backup systems and associated protocols
- Deputise for Senior TA.
