Infrastructure Project Consultant - SAN - SC Cleared
Rate: £550 to £600 a day
IR35 Determination: Inside
Clearance: SC Clearance
Location: Bridgend
Initial Duration: 8 Months
Project Consultant: You will join a blue chipe consultancy delivering a project for a government agency. The role will see you; transition solutions into internal and 3rd party Data Centres, to meet planned budgets and timescales, to ensure that all necessary support documentation is amended to reflect any implementation made and ensure handover and knowledge transfer to onshore and offshore support teams.
Must be able to work on own initiative. May need to work remotely, home based or customers sites.
Key Activities
Provision/decommission of hardware into the Datacentre complying to DCM processes.
Cabling of Servers following documented Low Level Designs and best practices.
Install/Patching/Firmware upgrades following documented Low Level Designs and best practices.
Provide Project On Call and perform Out of hours change work.
Provide documentation and information for Acceptance into Service to the BAU teams
Mentoring to enable knowledge and skill transfer to less experienced colleagues
Provide cost estimates on changes.
Liase with 3rd parties to develop minor Low Level Designs in line with High Level Designs.
Identify Performance Issues.
Key Skills
Perform OS Install/Patching/Firmware updates inline with best practices.
Maintain internal security and documentation standards (ISO90001 AND ISO27001).
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Identify and assess technical issues and risks.
Subject Matter Expert in their chosen discipline
Strong understanding of enterprise storage, backup and network configurations
Experience of more than 3 Unix/Linux operating systems.
Advanced Cisco IOS skills & experience
Strong familiarity with a wide range of Firewall vendors (Cisco ASA, Checkpoint, Fortinet, Palo Alto, McAfee)
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, IP address allocation & management
WAN installation/migration experience
Experienced in San implementation.
Experienced in Backup implementation
Strong familiarity with virtualization concepts (Oracle VM, VMWARE, AIX LPARS)
Platforms or backup software/platforms.
Ability to implement fully resilient storage architecture.
