As a trusted recruitment partner for this prestigious organization we have been tasked with the recruitment of a Linux System Administrator to join their IT team on an initial 3 month contract with the potential to extend. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in advanced Unix/Linux sys admin and great knowledge of Red Hat.

Skills/Environment

*Knowledge, intellectual capacity, reasoning, and analytical skills equivalent to those of a graduate.
*Demonstrable knowledge of current technologies for supporting configuration management and system monitoring.
*Proven expertise in advanced Unix/Linux systems administration, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux and/or Debian GNU/Linux.
*Demonstrable knowledge of current technologies for supporting configuration management (eg Ansible) and system monitoring.
*Good understanding of TCP/IP Networks, including VPN and Firewall solutions, and an understanding of the applicability of dev-ops processes to these systems.
*Excellent understanding of the use of version control systems to support systems management.
*Proven experience of systems security by design and an understanding of issues relating to data protection across multiple systems.
*Demonstrable experience of IT systems design, implementation, and management, with knowledge of techniques to ensure scalability, resilience, and disaster recovery.
*The ability to develop and enhance expertise in relevant fields.
*Excellent communications skills, including the presentation of complex technical ideas, and the production of accurate written documentation.
*Experience of virtualised computing infrastructure and private clouds.

Role Overview

The Linux Senior Systems Administrator is a senior member of the IT team, who will work closely with the head of IT to ensure all aspects of IT are managed well. These responsibilities include design, implementation, monitoring and support of complex services running wholly or partly on Linux platforms. The post holder will also contribute to, or backfill for, projects that the IT Team are managing or leading. They will be expected to lead on developing well managed platforms, particularly in relation to configuration management, and monitoring of systems.

The successful candidate will work within the IT Team, reporting to the Head of IT, and providing third line support to essential services.
