Our client, a market leading multi-national technology consultancy are looking for Environment Engineer to join them on a customer-based project based Canary Wharf (Hybrid). The assignment is an initial 6-month contract and can offer a competitive daily rate via Umbrella.

Job Purpose:

As part of the Global ISO20022 CBPR+ implementation, there is a requirement of an Environments Lead/SME/Engineer to support the Environments Manager. The role requires the incumbent to engage and track the delivery of multiple, global test environment components and their connectivity into a central End-to-End test environment asset set. Track code deliveries into those assets. Monitor testing across multiple testing streams. Where needed act as escalation for ongoing issues and drive forums for resolution, including senior stakeholder communications.

The position will require to work collaboratively with various cross functional teams including business to manage the testing for the organisation. The role will report and accountable to Environments Manager ISO 20022 CBPR or Global Head of Technology - ISO20022 CBPR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The will require the incumbent to undertake a range of technical management responsibilities hence a good working knowledge of IT concepts is required.
  • Tracking code deliverables from application teams. Mapping them to delivery to c. 57 countries. Ability to create, update and track delivery Matrix.
  • Self-starter - needs to be able to communicate with regional/country project and technical leads. Update and create delivery plans.
  • Support for global End-to-End test environment set. Central E2E environment c. 5 interconnected systems - testing across 57 countries and US/EU/AP timezones requires high availability. Regional test environments increase scope to 100 interconnected systems.
  • Environment management requires understanding of future test cycles and which new applications need to be added central E2E set - manage connectivity plan for new applications.
  • Act as engagement between regional application/environment teams and central application/environment teams - facilitate the engagement to delivery inter-system connectivity.
  • Test Environment Incidents/Outages - E2E environment high availability requires test outages to be treated like production. Role requires appointee to monitor multiple testing steams, being aware of any issues which aren't moving.
  • Engage and drive resolution where necessary; aiding support to SME's from application teams to facilitate resolution. Cajoling/reminding teams to drive issues as if they are production.
  • Ongoing issues may require updates to be sent to stakeholders, including exec level management. Ability to communicate technical information clearly, simply and concisely.
  • Majority of testing is India hours based so cover during this period before UK comes online.
  • Aligns with corporate strategy and culture. Working with the Global delivery team including Global Head of Technology, Global Programme Manager, ensure common minimum standards are implemented globally
  • Enables sharing of resources, methodologies, tools and techniques for project success across the organisation
  • Have experience and able to blend to regulatory programme working environment, that demands tight timeline delivery under pressure and effective stakeholder communication & management

Knowledge/Experience:

  • 5+ year minimum IT development or infrastructure experience with enterprise level understanding of financial payments applications
  • The role requires an understanding of the technologies underpinning the ISO test environments but it is important to note it is not a hands on development role.
  • Therefore, requires at best a solid, working knowledge of the technologies and likely suitable to someone who wants to move into supervisory or management type role. Or wants to spend duration or assignment experiencing management and escalations.
  • The role is to cover both technical environment management and global code deliveries - managing a subset of these deliveries under the Environments and Release managers.
