Senior Service Now Developer

Role/Reference: Specialist Role; Developer - DOS0100

Summary of Role: The specialist will need to be a highly experienced (Practitioner level) ServiceNow Developer. Managing day to day development/design of features and applications, contributing towards the design programme milestones. Upholding DWP values and working within Government Digital Standards.

Client: DWP - DWP Place

Assignment Location: North West England (Manchester, Blackpool, Leeds, Sheffield or Newcastle)

Rate: Up to £650/day

Contract Length: 9 months with the optional extension period of up to 2 months

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. This engagement has been assessed by the public body as Inside IR35 legislation. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement.

Security Clearance Required: This role requires Active SC (Security Check) clearance. Applicants require Active SC clearance or the willingness to go through clearance before starting on site. Candidates with current clearance will be preferred.

Latest Start Date: 5th September 2022

Working Arrangements: Specialist will work 5 working days per week. The specialist will be mandated to attend site 40% of their working time in line with DWP's Hybrid working policy working remotely for the remainder of their time. Days of attendance on site will be as determined by DWP management. The specialist will be required to be online between the hours of 8:00AM - 17:00PM Monday to Friday

Who you will work with:

  • DWP ServiceNow developers
  • Third parties/internal teams supporting/developing integration and automation between ServiceNow and other products
  • All deliverables will be agreed between the DWP Digital Delivery Teams and chosen supplier

Skills and experience

Buyers will use the Essential and Desirable Skills and Experience to help them evaluate suppliers' technical competence.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Information Security (DDaT) Problem Management (DDaT) Service Focus (DDaT) Technical Breadth (DDaT)
  • ITIL Qualification or experience/skills Demonstrate experience of working in a large scale organisation and/or Government or Public Sector installation of Service Now
  • Experience of delivering new configuration and functionality to the ServiceNow Production instance in line with the DWP Software Delivery Lifecycle.
  • Ability to complete stories assigned or escalate blockers to ensure that development is completed to expected standards and are delivered within timescales Attend and participate in Agile ceremonies.
  • Ability to complete development of user stories to the DWP definition of Done .
  • Experience in building, configuring and implementing ServiceNow features, applications and integrations
  • Experience of reviewing code and configuration changes made by other members of the delivery team to ensure compliance with DWP Standards
  • Providing support and guidance to members of the delivery teams and acting as a point of technical escalation
  • Experience of building and testing simple integrations, or can work on more complex integration as part of a wider team
  • Experienced in JavaScript within the ServiceNow platform, knowledge of the Glide API's. - Working Level
  • Current ServiceNow platform Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years' hand on Development experience on the platform
  • Service Experience in configuring and developing features and applications within the ServiceNow product.

  • Technical Skills: Information Security (DDaT) Problem Management (DDaT) Service Focus (DDaT) Technical Breadth (DDaT)
  • 3rd Line Support for incidents, problems and changes

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Agile Development
  • Knowledge of Angular. HTML, CSS
